24 GLC 300 Digital Light Symbols
Hey y’all!
New owner of a benz! I got a 2024 GLC 300 and I love it so far. I built it with the dealership and chose all the features I wanted with it.
I thought I did thorough research with all of the features but I am now doubting myself because of what the dealership is telling me.
I really liked the DIGITAL LIGHT on this thing, particularly the auto adjust of high beam with incoming traffic. When I was doing research, I also thought the road symbols and animations are super cool.
After driving it for 2 weeks, I noticed I never see any of the symbols at all. I do have the welcome and farewell animations. I asked the dealership why I don’t see it at all and they said it’s a part of the Drivers Assist package which my vehicle doesn’t have. Is this true?
I did research of the Drivers Assist package and every single material I read didn’t mention that the symbols feature of the digital light required this.
Same with every documentation on Digital Light never said that drivers assist package is needed for the symbols.
Even on the owner’s manual, the road symbols feature is under DIGITAL LIGHT with no mention of it requiring a different package.
Now, I also know that only a few countries allow the symbols legally so it’s possible that it’s just not allowed where I am (USA) but it would be nice to know that I’d just have it enabled once legislations around here are passed.
I have the following codes on my vehicle’s spec sheet too:
Thanks!

I am in the same boat. I got my 2023 GLC 300 (in Canada), with all the premium plus package( Pinnacle in the US). The digital lights are standard and I do have the Intelligent drive package as well except for the Farewell animation( which is also not configurable in the MBUX, unlike in Germany). This is a disappointment as it is advertised on the MB website as an amazing feature, but now I feel the regular headlight would have sufficed.

He says that my vehicle does have the symbols and those projections (Code 42U Preinstallation for projection function for symbols to be exact), but he has only seen that work with the EQS in US. He is checking internally on why that it is but he is leaning towards the DOT banning them for now. But it's weird that it works with the EQS? Does that have a special exception? Who knows.
At this point, I think it's up to the country if you get to experience the car feature or not.

The answer to the missing features of the DIGITAL LIGHT such as Stop Sign, Lane warning etc. might be in this screenshot from my Mercedes Me Connect+ page. I would recommend to check yours too.

No Tetris means no sale! j/k
They should really offer credits at point of sale since most of you bought thinking you were getting those features!

this is country thing, you can reach out to some "wizards" online who can code your car to EU standard and then most of the digital light features will work. it costs ~$500 (I haven't decided yet whether I want to pay or not). I was talking to the service advisor the other day at the dealership and they told me that most likely those features won't be allowed in USA anytime soon.

To be fair to MB, the GLC package description for Digital LEDs never mentions the additional stuff. It mostly focuses on auto high beams, adjustments due to curvature, corners etc. So I guess they just leave it open to interpretation. Maybe these are available for the next segments like E and S class.

Yeah, that makes sense as I did some googling and it seems C-class in the EU gets those Digital Light features. Well, I guess time to change continents then

The https://www.mercedes-benz.ca/en/mercedes-me-connect Mercedes Me Canada website lists it but mentions that it requires "The services require that the corresponding optional equipment is installed in the vehicle". Not sure, but will check with the dealer for sure.

Then you might have this. Check the Settings under Open/Close. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UjYl...nnel=MBZMaster
I was under the impression that it was only in the EU and AUS maybe. Are you based out of the US?

Those Intelligent features (ILS+ aka IHC+) of Digital Light can be activated by remote coding, and it is NOT available in USA market, not GLC only but all Mercedes models in USA has no such features.
Demo Video for your reference, it is available in your car digital manual too:
As for digital rain and starwave animation on lock/unlock, and symbols for driving assist all can be activated by remote coding, if your dealer can not help.
Thanks

I looked into this and I'm sad to tell you that, this is not available in Canada. I even asked a tech to look into it and see if there is something in the software that they can enable and there is not. I work at a dealership.

Also have the digital headlights in the US on my EQE500 SUV and they are not adaptive with the road projections, just auto-high beam and welcome/exit projections. Considering using RJ Automotive to recode and activate them, but would like to see if anyone else tried this and how it worked. (link below) Also not sure I want to pay another $500+ to get them working, but if it really works it would make nighttime driving much safer.
