Auto s/w update not occurring

I got a msg to say that my s/w would be updated the next time the car was parked, but it's not happening, even several days later.

Instead - if I go to the softeare page in settings I get the details for what the update will do, but with this curious addendum of "äs soon as the technical conditions have been fulfilled"

"Continue" cannot be selected, but Ïnformation seems to question the condition of my battery......anyone have an explanation?

That's interesting. As you can see back in Feb I got a notice for an update. Unfortunately, it didn't complete the update and figured it would come back on its own, it never did. I never got all the screens you posted just the initial notice that it was available. The MBUX 2.6 update performed flawlessly. I figured the next time I go to the dealer they can check it out. Think you might want to visit the dealership!

Thanks for your reply. I've never seen the screenshot for 2.6.1, but I did see a different s/w version on the screen in the car. I did go to the dealer at that time to enquire why I can't see "MBUX 2.6.1" anywhere in the settings, and they were a bit vague - almost like they didn't understand the system themselves. They did say that I could leave them the car "for several hours" - and they'd ensure I was fully up-to-date......but that seems to defeat the object of the user being able to perform updates from home, so for the moment I haven't gone back.

Looks to be staged, usually going to the dealership or if you have access to XENTRY yourself, you can update manually.

I still cannot get this update to install. Has anyone else had any luck? The dealer could not even get it to install today.

Mine was installed 11/19 automatically.

If it still hasn’t installed by itself I suggest you call MB Me 1-800-367-6372. They might be able to give some guidance especially if it was downloaded to your car.

So, the software update in the car has finally been executed and the screen tells me the car s/w is up to date.

However this conflicts with what Mercedes Me has to say.

Here I have a list of software updates :

2 are morked "Installed" - so why are they still listed?
1 is marked "not required" - if so - why bother listing it?
3 are marked "not installed" and selecting "i" I'm told that no action is necessary by me and "we will try again later".
Bearing in mind that one of these update is dated "07/05/2024", I wonder how much later?

My dealership has not been very helpful and emailing or calling Mercedes Me even less so.

Is anyone else having these problems?

Do you mind sharing a list of what the updates and dates are in your app?

The 1 update listed as not required is truly not required likely because your vehicle had a build/update which already fixed the issue. Or it does not have the optional equipment which the update is likely a fix for. MB's OTA updates are individual packages which update/recode individual components instead of re-writing/editing all the code at once. This why large and often important updates are released only through dealers and never made available OTA.

The other three marked as "not installed" may have been released prior to the software update you just installed. In this case, they will likely never install as they are no longer needed or compatible with your current MBUX version. The computer might look at them, recognize them as dated prior to your latest update, and disregard them. It really depends on what kind of updates they are.

Agreed MB has horrible customer side software deployment and support! BMWs get updates every few months always adding new features, design elements, etc. I'm lucky if I get a bug fix once a year after which I'm forced to connect to a trickle charger to be able to install (an issue many others in the thread share). Of course I prefer MB but envy the software in BMWs.

I definitely eat up the gimmicky tech features like the lights and apps. Some prefer MB's more conservative approach. I wouldn't mind as much if MB didn't advertise technology and OTA updates so heavily. The worst is reaching out to support where nobody can ever give you a helpful answer. Not even after escalating the case. It's as if MB's software engineers refuse to communicate without anyone outside their department. Digital extras like the phone key, lane/traffic sign assist, etc are all features advertised as coming soon. Even after switching from a 2022 w206 to a 2025 w206, none of these extras have been released. I think they're too busy cramming their logo into the headlights and taillights...

I am honestly shocked MB has maintained their self-service maps update. It's the one thing they update multiple times a year and make it simple with plug n play installation. Definitely take advantage of it because surprise... I don't receive OTA map updates for my area as advertised...

Thanks for your very comprehensive reply, 818benz and I agree with the logic of your comments. You confirm the somewhat lackadasical approach MB have to this issue.

As I mentioned, why bother listing "updates" if thay have already been installed or are no longer required.

Likewise, the info that they will "try later" to install an update from May 2004!

I've attached screenshots from my Mercedes Me - though I would have preferred them to be smaller!
