2018 GLC63 Pre-Trade & Order
Let me explain it.
I typically own a car for 2-3 years max. In the US cars typically depreciate by model year rather than age, so you see a slight decline in value on a new 2018 until August 2018 when the 2019 hits the lot and then you see a cliff of 20-25% as dealers discount 2018 inventory. Then there is a second cliff in August 2019 when the same thing happens again.
Most model years run August-August. The first model year is usually the exception.
Our GLC63S Coupes and GLC63 SUVs will be December production, arriving in the USA in February.
Recently new models have suffered from massive EPA delays at port in retribution towards the German OEMs over diesel gate. The very first production of 2018 E63S were sitting at port for 4 months awaiting clearance. Same went for the new Panamera.
So it is not inconceivable our 2018 GLC63S won't arrive at dealer until May. And then there will be the August cliff when the 2019 model arrives which won't have to wait for EPA testing and clearance (because it will have same powertrain as 2018).
So basically there is a scenario where with the GLC63S we end up with 25% depreciation over the first 3 months instead of over the first 12 months. That would be economically throwing money down the drain.
The Best of Mercedes & AMG
I am also considering Model X and the new Cayenne which is to be announced in September.
I don't know if they'll do any more but the dealership understands that when a new model is launched then future allocations will be set of the first year sales. My sense is that's why they were willing to be aggressive on an out of state sale.
I mean I understand what you mean with the release so late in the model year, but if you are paying this much for this car then resale shouldn't be that big a deal for you.

And that would be ridiculous if this car doesn't hit our shores by May. No one on here seems to have any concrete start of production dates at the factories (other than what the stealerships have told them - which I would take with a bag of salt). Who knows maybe they have already started production on the GLC63 and we may see them sooner like December or early January.
delivery date will be confirmed during October but I have to expect something between January and March next year. That's going to be longest half a year in my life

Why did you go with the Coupe over the SUV?
I am about to pull the trigger on a GLC63 SUV and prefer a full red interior like the G wagon designo classic red with code ZF5
What designo red are you getting (code)
Is it just red leather or mixed color like red pepper and black ?
Can you suggest what dealers can help and cost
Thanks
Greg

First choice: Designo Bengal Red
Second choice: Designo Classic Red
Third choice: Designo Pepper Red
I submitted a sketch which highlights what it's should be what color. Seats are meant to be fully red, as is lower part of dash and middle door panels. Door sills, pockets, upper dash and carpets should be black.
The best way to submit a request is to place an order with a dealer, and then contact Melissa Witek at Mercedes Benz USA. She can coordinate with designo who will then coordinate with the dealer.
I haven't got confirmation but since production is in November I don't expect to hear anything till next month.

Seems like I am weird but coupe is super nice car for me compare to suv which looks like big boring buble in my eyes :/ GLC coupe is like how all these BMW X6 should looks like but only Mercedes find the perfect recipe, while suv seems to me like uglies Macan
