AMG Head Up Display - yes or no?
AMG Head Up Display keeps visible the vehicle speed, speed limit, and tach. I imagine this could be useful info to have in driver field of view, but it’s also displayed clearly on the digital instrument panel.
For $1,100 is the option worth the money or is it just another thing to break? Does anyone here have direct experience with the AMG HUD?

I don’t have it on my GLC but I bought my wife a X3m40i and she has it on her car. I think it’s a must have. Allows you to not have to look down to check speed etc.

I skipped it on my C63S. Main reason, it's useless if you wear polarized sunglasses. I'm also not a big fan of having stuff in my line of sight. I end up turning it off on every car I've driven so far that has one. There's some AMG specific stuff that it can display. On a track it shows braking and acceleration zones and upcoming turns etc. via the Track Pace app. I kinda wish I had that when I was on the Nurburgring, but the rest of the stuff can pretty much be displayed in the new digital cockpit where it's more legible, crisper and with a higher resolution and visible even with polarized sunglasses. I sit low in the car, so it just takes a slight downward glance to see what's on the dash. The HUD generally solves an non-existing problem for me.

I have it on my GLC, never had HUD on any previous car. I wouldn't be without it now, great for keeping your eyes on the road whilst also being aware of changing speed and rev limits.

I love it. It's very useful if you like to keep the pedal down.

I have it and I have mixed feelings. I don't like it when I am driving on a dark curvy road at night because I am trying to make sure there are no critters running across the road or a new pothole to miss and the damn HUD display is right in the field of view. There is not enough adjustment in the system to move it out of your way because Mercedes is determined that it should be directly in your line of sight. I had a HUD in my Vette and I could move it below my line of sight. It is almost useless during the daytime because of the color too. The HUD in the Vette was blue and easily visible during daytime but the Mercedes is white and gets very washed out in bright sunlight. When I don't need to watch the pavement real close like when I'm going down the freeway it is great. Drag racing great too. So mixed bag for me. Good thing it has an easy button to turn it off or on.

I find it's a must have
Keeps me mindful of how much I am speeding even when I am wanting to , great for navigation too. Now when I drive cars with out periodically I notice how much I hate not having it .

It's a love it or hate it feature. It was already equipped on my car and has been turned off for months. One thing to consider, if you regularly wear polarized sunglasses it cannot be seen.

I love the HUD on my 21 GLC43 (less so HUD on my wife's 21 GLC300). With 6 different configurations, I can easily see RPM/MPH when I'm hot-rodding; also enjoy feature-rich NAVI when I'm traveling. (Additional bonus: HUD flashes red as RPMs approach red-line.) The positioning is plenty adjustable, as is brightness. Only objection is "no go" wearing Polaroid sunglasses, so I usually wear non-Polarized unless extremely bright sun.

The feature and a choice of data it is designed to display is great. Implementation when it comes to positioning of the image in fron of driver's eyes is far from perfect unless the driver's head is one inch below the soffit. This is not how I adjust my seat in AMG GLC 63S sport wagen coupe.

Heads Up Display a MUST have !!!!!
Couple it with adaptive cruise and toggle the small stalk controller on the steering column, essential for suburban driving.
Last 4 cars all had this, sooo easy to use and safe.

Total distraction added to the too busy info screens...
From a drivers standpoint a total waste for a SUV.

I'm really not a fan myself, but given the low cost, I'd say add it and try for yourself. Worst case, it's an attractive option when you sell the car.

too bad it is small. My wife’s Yukon Denali makes it seem microscopic!
