Considering buying a GLC63 AMG SUV

Hey guys seriously considering the GLC63 SUV. I was considering the GLE but a lot of complaints about quality. Is the GLC63 built in Germany? What has the reliability been like? Is there much difference between the 2020 and 2021?

Thanks for the help.

The GLC is manufactured in Bremen, Germany. I believe the GLE is produced in the Tuscaloosa, Alabama area.

I read recently that the GLC production was moved to Finland due to production capacity limits in Bremen. But I'm not sure about this ???

2020 GLC63
Have had my 2020 GLC63 for almost a year, and no major issues or problems. Have tuned, lowered and added an intake to it as well and it has been solid. Just did the Service A at the dealership and they didnt seem to care, in fact the tech afterwards said that he loved the car and the lowered stance. Great for daily driving, calm when I've got my wife and daughter with me and a monster when its just me on the roads.

I’m waiting for mine also, production just after yours. The shipping time from Europe is going to be at least 6 to 8 weeks, so absolute earliest would be late may. June more likely with how backed up all the shipping and ports are I’d imagine (due to fewer staff because of COVID). This is my realistic guess anyway.

If you are looking for a compact SUV with a terrific 8 cylinder motor, I would say don't wait....this is the ride. As far as quality, don't sweat it. I assume you are looking for one vehicle...not a fleet. Statistically, one is a tiny sample size. I think it is easy to be mislead when reading about owners' experiences as most only report their issues. When things are going well, it is crickets. I have had my 'used 2020' for 2 months...not one single problem...LOL.

I cannot comment on the 20 - 21 differences with any certainty...but I suspect nothing.

I've had mine since December 2019, with about 16K on the clock. There are days I wish that with our michigan roads that it was a less harsh of a ride, but thats what you get on 21" wheels. Its an amazing daily driver and i couldn't be happier with my choice.

I think you can't get the performance seats in the 2021's but that's all i've heard. which is a bummer because they are great.

Depends on where you are for shipping time. My 2020 GLC 63 was ordered 12/31/19, built the 1st decade of February 2020, got on the boat in Germany on 2/18/20, hit the Brunswick, GA port (3rd east coast port it hit) on 3/18/20, and I took delivery on 3/21/20. So you might get it only 4 weeks or so from the build.

You’re absolutely right, I had assumed west coast which is much further by ship. Apologies for that 🙏🏻

2006 Infiniti FX45, 2022 BMW M550i (on order)
Hello, new to the forum.
Place my order yesterday for a 2021 GLC 63 SUV. Build date is in August and should arrive a few months later.
I asked about 2022 arrivals, and dealer said that MB will continue to build 2021 models well into 2022 due to contractual obligations to build a specific number of GLCs. He expects no significant changes to engine or exterior/interior until 2024 model.
