It's a mistake for me because we hardly ever have rear seat passengers, so I didn't want to spend the money on them. All cars have side window curtain airbags for front & rear.

That’s a coincidence...My order left the Sill protector on that we took off and left off Acoustic Comfort that I wanted. I watched the input so doubt it was a dealer error. I was hoping I wouldn’t need to add Ceramic window tint but it’s cheaper than the package that has the acoustic reflective IR glass.

A couple of pics from an event we attended at my dealer this evening. Was nice to finally see it in person. Disappointed in the cargo space though and my wife thought the rear looked too much like the GLC. Now we're waiting to see the GLS.

Can you elaborate on why you were disappointed in the cargo space? Isn't it larger the existing GLE?

A gaggle of MB's
A little catch up on misc subjects here...

1. Rear Cargo Space 7-seater - in 3rd row version rear cargo is drastically reduced - down right small as a result of the 3rd row seat. Under floor storage behind 3rd row will fit the cargo shade or a AR15 if you are so inclined.

2. Rear Cargo 5-seater - with 2nd row folded down rear cargo space will probably measure out a "bit" more than W166 - with 2nd row seat upright my eyeball says "less" than W166. Under floor storage will also have accommodation to sotre your cargo shade (or AR15).

3. 2nd Row Seats - 7-Seater - 2nd row legroom is great - 2nd row seat "sits" a bit lower than W166 - power backrest adjustment for 2nd row is cool - the front/back switch for 2nd row is "mock" - didn't have opportunity to test if headrest switch was real or mock (I "think" mock maybe). 3rd zone climate control totally cool. Standard with 2/USB-C and 110V outlet is on the back of the center console under the USB-C's.

4. 2nd Row Seats 5-seater - "change" here is backrest is in fixed position - no backrest adjustment - backrest folds flat without having to pull up bottom cushion (as compared to W166)

5. Tires - remember 7-seater no spare - for both 5&7 - 19's will be able to be rotated front/rear - 20's will NOT be able to be rotated am different rear wheel offset from front is the reason -(maybe different tire width ? German engineer had good English but not great English) 21's will all have Tire-Fit (no spare)

There about 35-50 "pre-production" GLE's on the road here in the US under special manufacturer plates - assembled 4th quarter 2018 - as pre-production some of these units are "wierd" meaning option combo's that won't be available - wheels/tires these pre-production units are not what will go into production - ALL these pre-production units will go to the crusher... and engineers "say" these pre-production units are "under-tuned" meaning not final/higher US power spec.

V167 dealer availability - absolutely positively not known when Fed's will release - not specific to MB that's on the Fed's - if Fed release was know or could be accurately estimated for the new GLE - Mercedes would have scheduled 5-6 regional dealer launch shows and pulled in 8,000 or so dealer personnel - with this "not known" - Mercedes will "train" about 300 dealer personnel nationwide to be GLE ambassadors back to their respective dealerships.
AMG said no go this calendar year - "except" there "might be" a very limited # of non-AMG "580's" that "might" be built with that new engine for 4th quarter only .

GLS/X167 - "maybe" delivery late 4th quarter - definitely not yet decided if this does happen if new gen will be a "late 2019" or "very/very early 2020" ... will only know more when Dealer Order Guides get released and that may not be soon

No, no info on release date. Only that they will be able to take orders soon for late spring delivery. I wanted to, but held back from mentioning that some dealers are already placing orders. This was at one of the bigger dealer chains around here so hence why they had this one on the ground. The dealer that I get my vehicles from usually gets their inventory after this one.

To elaborate, I have 2 young kids. We had a W166 ML Bluetec for 4 years, a GLE for just about 3 years, and the GLS for only 3 months now. Beyond the specs/numbers, the shape and functionality of the rear cargo area has always been a deal breaker for us as my wife would often carry a regular stroller and a jogging stroller at the same time in the car. When car shopping, before going for a test drive, we would see if both strollers can fit side by side, can she comfortable lift them into the rear (she's 5' 2"), and the opening of the rear passenger doors as to putting the kids in the car seat. Through the years, the W166 ML & GLE worked for us because of being able to fit both strollers side by side whereas in both the E70 and F15 X5's 1 would have to be leaning a bit on top of the other. In the Grand Cherokee, the rear doors didn't open wide enough. So tonight, from checking out the cargo area of the V167, it seems as if the width and new sloped shape of the vehicle has taken away from the space back there. I have not looked at the numbers but we've been around these vehicles long enough to get a feel for them. And this is in comparison to the GLE that we just recently turned in. The GLS of course is a different ballgame, a just right type of size. We rented a Suburban while on vacation 3 weeks ago and in that, I had to almost climb in to get items that were up against the 2nd row seat.

This GLE that they had on hand was a 5 seater and it did have a spare under the rear cargo floor. I didn't think to check the size of the spare or the wheels on it. It was a 350 w/ what seemed to be the AMG exterior and night packages, trailer hitch, and a pano roof. The MBUX screens make a huge difference, they're nice! For someone that has been used to the COMAND scroll wheel for so long, now having a touchpad may take some getting used to. I personally didn't get to sit in the driver's seat but from watching my wife sit, it appeared as if her right arm naturally fell just behind the grab bars so her hand was right at the touchpad. We'll be taking our annual trip to the NYIAS in April so we'll certainly see one there also and hopefully there will be something on the GLS. By then, some on here should already have their GLE's as well.

Nice pics! Lucky you. Still waiting for our demo here... Supposedly in March. But we don't even have our final price for our country yet so not holding my breath.

Were you able to get a glance of the exhaust tips? Fake or not with the AMG package? How does the metal weave look in person? Too fake?

The downside is the 2nd row does not fold completely flat like in the W166; I don't like this.

Tires - remember 7-seater no spare - for both 5&7 - 19's will be able to be rotated front/rear - 20's will NOT be able to be rotated am different rear wheel offset from front is the reason -(maybe different tire width ? I believe the 21s come wtih a spare if you don't have 3rd row; no reason they wouldn't (ODs about the same size for all options). "690 Minipare" is listed on my build sheet with 21s.

The one last night definitely had a spare. If those were the 21" wheels, and this did not have the 3rd row, that would make sense.

The one in your pics looks like it had 20" RZWs.

I ordered the RWB—21" AMG Multispoke Wheels with Black Accents and my build sheet also shows a 690—Mini spare.

This really bugs me too. Nearly flat is not actually flat. Long objects like a mirror need to be fully flat otherwise any flex risks breaking it.

It's all a concession to make entry to the third row easier. I like the way the W166 2nd row folds.

The dealer emailed me my build sheet and like Greg some items were added that I didn't order. Here is the updated sheet that matches my build sheet exactly:

The following options were included but I didn't order them:

D11 Roof Spoiler $600
D27 Silver Wheel Locking Bolts $150
550 Trailer Hitch $575

I'm sure my dealer will make it right.

Weird! I actually don't have extra items but a missing item, the Load Sill Protector. Looking back I think my salesman did not get it in originally and I didn't catch it. That is not a problem because it will be easy to add after the fact. Yours is tougher.

I'm okay with the trailer hitch since as you explained, it will add value for resale. Don't know if I'll like the roof spoiler.

Joe,
As I remember a Mercedes Factory guy posted about the only way to make a chnge after an order locked was to find and identical one to what you want now. A very low probability. The result of your getting E-ABC might be that what you have now is as close as they could get to your original order. If they had just changed yours the production date shouldn't have changed.

That;s what I did. I had airmatic on my 2013 ML350 and it was great.
