The best radars are the ones with remote sensor units. In my soon to be retired '07 W164 I have the K40 Calibre mounted behind the front grille and tin found behind the plastic behind the back bumper cover. The 2 led indicators are mount inside the front climate vents. its a very clean install that is invisible even though systems are allowed in NJ, I even went so far as to mount an exterior EzPass tag (they look horrible attached to the front plate) behind the front grille. For the longest time there my windshield was super clean with nothing mounted to it until I added a BlackVue about 1.5 years ago

You caught my attention with this!! Just to be clear, you mounted the exterior EZPass transponder behind your grill and have had no problems? That sounds like a great idea. I don't know why manufactures don't make provisions for this in their designs. The power could come from the vehicle instead of the internal battery too.
If you look closely at the glass there are tiny red squares marking the 2 locations. I don't know if all the windshields have these markings or just the acoustic package.
I never bothered to actually stick it to the windshield, it seems to fit snugly just resting there. That's why you see 2 white strips reflecting off the window, I still have the removable plastic that reveals the adhesive. I don't notice them while driving, I guess the camera makes them look more prominent.
No issues with cell phone reception that I can tell, works fine for me.
I have the acoustic package and put my EZ Pass transponder in the lower center area of the windshield. I also got this black silicon sleeve from https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07ZDJJPWH so that it wouldn't stick out like a sore thumb.

Happy to inform that I’ve not had any issues with my R7 picking up radar gun signals front or back.

I have an R7, acoustic comfort and after moving it higher to the upper passenger side clear spot it picks up signals much better. I had to mod an under mount because the top mounts drop the detector below the clear opening.

I just got my 2022 GLE400d with PAF 596 acoustic package windshield and seems impossible to make EZ pass device work anywhere.!! so far only by opening the window and sticking your hand with it outside works! Even tried to mount the device near rearview mirror base... *removing the plastic cover and getting to this area of the windshield where rain sensor+camera are mounted, but still does not work. My wife has same exact GLE without the acoustic package option and no problem. Any feedback on this problem would be very much appreciated.. Thanks
I have the same problem with my EZpass tag.. and your solution seems practical... I just wonder if the device is really strong enough to withstand outdoor temperatures, rain, ... plus I need to find a discrete location so it doesn't get stolen either.!!
