Now you are just rubbing it in on my mistake. Haha.

Not wishing that on anyone. The preliminary DOG showed AS on the 53 with 21’s or I would have opted for the 22”. I forgot to check when I placed my order that locked immediately because of the red color...so I was told. Just hoping that things didn’t change because previous DOG’s have lacked reliability. Do you travel North in winter? That’s the problem...change directions 😂 lol.

I can confirm that my GLE 53 is coming with All Season tires...my preference. I got worried when I saw that the GLE build site for the 53 showed high performance tires on the 20” wheels. That’s probably not accurate, what a surprise. I don’t think there is even a 20” available but didn’t check that.
Edit-there is a 20” available just not on my build.

@Ron.s I’m in upstate SC. We hardly get any snow, maybe 1-2 times a year and about 2-4 inches which will usually be gone in a few hours, but we do get temps below freezing more often. We usually travel south but my wife and chid have been asking for me to teach then how to ski somewhere north of us. Maybe I make them stick to water skiing since I’m getting cool wheels but crappy tires. 😂

As long as its garaged at night the temps may not bother unless parked in freezing temps long enough for them to cool and then driven.. Driving should keep them warm. The Ski Resort parking lot might be the problem along with lack of traction. The newer Winter Stud-less tires on new wheels are another solution but also $2500 and up. I made several 1300 round trips at high speeds with mine. Temps in the 50’s and even 70’s farther South without any sign of wear. I had a set of Blizzack’s from 2000-2005 era that would wear out quickly at freeway speed in 70 degree temps.
It’s an option if you decide to try some ski trips. I bought my wheels (20”) from Tire Rack and Michelin Pilot Alpin 5 SUV from Costco because TR didn’t stock them until later. TR will ship a tire and wheel set, stud bolts, balanced, mounted and include sensors ($40+ each) compatible with Mercedes for temp/air pressure. On a package they don’t charge to mount and balance, (worth at least $80), but they add for shipping. My last set came in two days and were very well packaged. Don’t give up....skiing is fun but the gear for 3 people will probably set you back a lot more than the tires. We all need to do our $$$ part to help the economy🤑.

Ron - I think our 53s are scheduled for the same build week in November. You hearing any new news? I am going to reach out to my Dealer but curious if you are hearing anything different? Joe

My Dealer recently said “Mercedes doesn’t tell us anything but what we get in the system for the build schedule”. It would seem to me that the current build dates are fairly solid unless something outside of their control causes a delay. There was a European post about a completed 53 that had a hold with an early November date. (They seem to get some additional detail in Germany & some parts of Europe) It might be the same reason ours were pushed back about a month. IMO, Mercedes should have a decent handle on the Assembly process but can’t build on time if components can’t be delivered and in quantities needed. It would be nice to know more detail but some thoughts....
The 450 with the 6 cylinder has been scarce compared to the 4 banger for at least a year. Demand has been strong for the 450...supply not so good.
Canadian 53’s released late 2019 had suspension noise show up mid year 2020 and a redesigned piece tp correct.
The Multi Contour seats are complicated and the first supplier might have been replaced-now we have more AMG leather options.
Some trims like Metal Weave were dropped last year and not because of demand, now added Carbon Fiber.
Covid related shutdowns may be increasing again-Mercedes sources components in several countries.

They have increased production capacity so I’m hoping that ours are produced in November as scheduled.

As COVID shutdowns loom, hope you all receive your vehicles on schedule. This year has certainly highlighted supply chain fragilities in realms from automobiles to consumer goods.

Yes, the Covid situation has certainly impacted the "just in time" manufacturing model. It's been challenged by Union strikes, China trade wars, and now Covid.
This will probably lead to more Vertical Integration, Mergers and Acquisitions, and Warehousing. And higher expenses.
And reduction of product variations and option choices.

My GLE53 left Germany and heading for Romania. It takes 3-4 weeks to get here, I do not why, maybe it comes on a horse carriage. Another week for local formalities, in theory I should have it by the end of November.

That's wonderful! Cars do seem to be flowing now and I've learned a bit about railroads in the process. If you're compulsive like me, find out where the railhead for offloading to trucks to Indy is located. From what I can deduce, the date the vehicle is invoiced to the dealer is shipment date +/- a day.

My GLE 53 now shows that it went into production on Oct 30. About a week early after first being pushed back a month.

Hey,
I ordered a GLE53W4 the first week of October and was told last week that my build was accepted by Mercedes. What does that mean and how long does it take to build these vehicles? Thanks!

In these times probably no one knows. A lot will depend on component availability. I was in my Dealer today and they just got off a call with Porsche. They summarized by saying that the higher optioned vehicles are getting delays that are difficult to forecast...similar to Mercedes. Suppliers are not able to meet JIT schedules all too often.
After acceptance there is normally a projected build date given in decades (10 day increments). Your Dealer should have a better feel for when that will happen based on their allocation situation and recent experience. You might start by asking your Dealer how many orders are ahead of you and when they will have an allocation for yours. Some SA’s will keep you up to date as to changes but others don’t. My guess would be 4-5 months unless they took one of their inventory allocations and customized it for your build.
Good Luck!

My dealer told me today that my GLE53 will arrive in the showroom on November 20. They are also giving me a GLB loaner to use until the GLE is delivered. Not really needed as I do not travel much these days and also have other cars, but I'll take it just to test drive it.

Thanks for the helpful information, Ron.s!
I just reached out for a projected build date. When I first placed the order, they said I should have the car in 2-3 months and that he expects it to be ready in December. However, after reading all the posts on this forum, I am not so sure.
