GLE 350

2020 GLE 350 Interior Off Gassing

We have had our new GLE350 for a few months. The interior off gassing gives me a headache, burns my eyes and makes me nauseated. Dealer indicates they have not heard of this issue. It is the MB Tex interior but could be any of the items in the cabin. It is not a typical new car smell, it smells like a strong chemical. I like the wind in my hair, but that is not always possible. Does anyone know of this issue or have a solution to minimize the smell?

I would insist that the Dealer fix it or give you a new car. That’s not normal....mine didn’t smell when new or ever. Neither did any others that I drove. If it burns your eyes it could be something dangerous to your health. It’s the Dealers responsibility to figure it out.

Edit: For something like this I would provide a written request to be delivered to the Service Dept. Date and sign it.

No smell in mine either - although I have a 2019 build date and I just bought it in July, so it sat for a long time before I got it. But - other than the "new car" small and the occasional whiff of the air balance thing when it works, it doesn't smell and isn't leaving that chemical film on the inside of the windows. Hope dealer can straighten that out for you...

I’ve had the new car smell for about six months. It was strong at first but has gone away completely. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Never had the smell. I have leather if that makes a difference. I did get a light film on my windshield after about two weeks but that never returned after cleaning.
