Auxiliary AGM Battery/location in 2021 GLE 450

I have researched the internet trying to find out:

1) What size is the AGM battery?
Is it a normal size car battery or one of those small lawn mower type sizes? I’m hoping it is a normal size car battery with all the duties this battery has to deal with.

2) Where is this battery located in the car?

Thanks

It’s a regular sized car battery.
Located under the driver seat. Slide the seat all the way forward & open rear door. Then pull off the plastic cpver for access. There are a number of threads about the battery and some pictures.

Ron, in the owner's manual it shows hooking up a charger to the connectors under the hood for charging the AGM battery/48 volt battery?

You can also boost the car if it doesn't start? Do you know if these posts under the hood lead to the AGM battery then though the voltage converter and into the 48 volt battery also?
I know there has been discussion on this but it's been quite varied.

I believe that is correct.

Another way to get useful information, including battery location, is the rescue sticker located inside the fuel filler door. It's a QR code and your smartphone camera will recognize it, and offer you a link to the Mercedes site with the information. You can download this file and store it on your phone, and/or email it to your email account for filing.

Thanks for that info and the links.
Reading to the bottom of the rescue card pdf that you sent, is the statement about the 48v battery:
"Vehicles of this type can additionally be equipped with a 48 V On-board electrical system.
The 48 V On-board electrical system is deactivated as soon as at least one airbag has been triggered in the event of a crash.
Further details can be found in the rescue manual."
I assume this is for rescuer safety, but I was under the impression that 72V was the rescuer safety threshold, and that one reason for wide acceptance of 48V was because, at full charge rate (60V) it stayed below that 72V limit.

Maybe it's different in different countries?

That could be, however, the 48V system is obviously not needed after an airbag has gone off, since emergency systems are run on 12V. Makes sense to deactivate it.

I have seen several incidents where the car is driveable after an airbag deployment. Most, in fact.
If I were in a remote area, I might prefer to start the engine and drive away. Which requires an active 48V starter.
Half of my driving is in remote areas. I prefer them. Hit a deer, your airbag goes off and you can't drive for help.

I think the 72V threshold for protecting rescue workers, and for occupants exiting the car, is reasonable.
It's accepted by OSHA (theirs is 50V) and the EU. I'd like to see the rationale for lowering it below 48V.
