Thumbs down Carrier Bars and Panoramic Sun Roof Fit

We just picked up a 2021 GLE 350. Had the Carrier bars installed on the vehicle. The vehicle also has the panoramic sunroof.
It seems that the sunroof cannot open with the bars on the vehicle.
We had the dealer move the bars and the roof opened but only a few inches before it hits the back bar.
Where the bar grips the roof rail invades the space of the panoramic sunroof travel.

Are other having this issue?
Is there a solve to this problem.

Is it the OEM roof bars?

I'm getting ready to get either Thule or Yakima bars, even measured the width and all and had this thought or the sunroof hitting the foot base of the rack.

If you move forward you need to confirm there is enough room for sunroof to travel.
we have the OEM bars.

As I posted here https://mbworld.org/forums/gle-class...ml#post8311823:

"When the basic carrier bars for rails are mounted, the (panorama) sliding sunroof cannot be opened entirely. To ventilate the vehicle interior, the (panorama) sliding sunroof can still be raised at the rear. If the (panorama) sliding sunroof comes into contact with a basic carrier bar for rails which has been approved by Mercedes-Benz, it will lower slightly but remain raised at the rear."

I'm looking to buy rail bars (either OEM or Thule) and have panorama roof too. Just out of curiosity, aren't the rail bars adjustable (i.e., can't you slide the rear bar further back)?

Thanks.

Yes, they are fully adjustable. Here is the recommended placement for the OEM:

As I plan on keeping carrier bars permanently on car, wonder if non-OEM versions are higher so there would be no issue with opening the roof?

I just tried to fit my bars yesterday that look like the diagram and they will not fit. The front portion of the roof bars are too wide and the rear portions are too narrow. I could not find an area with enough space between the front and back bars and still get the box to fit on them.
What cross bars is everyone using? I think mine are Thule.

2020 GLE 580
I have the Mercedes crossbars on my 2020 GLE580. It took awhile to figure out how they actually fit.
1. They are different lengths, so the longer one should be mounted on the wider part of the roof (front).
2.The shorter one fits on the narrower part of the roof (rear).
3. Here is something important, there is a left and right end for each bar. It will attach properly to the roof rail once it is mated to the correct end of the crossbar.
Once you are able to position the bars on their correct roof position and if the latch does not line up as it should, flip it around and it will most likely work as expected.
It took me a while to figure it out, but they do fit. I do not understand why the installation instructions do not describe the line up steps for the bars more completely.
I hope this works for you.

I just bought a 2021 GLE350 and bought the Yakima Railbars (XL for the rear, XXL for the front per Yakima instructions) since I have had success with Yakima in the past. With the panoramic roof, the front bar interferes and I found no way to adjust it, move it, or work around it. The rear bar mounts behind the most aft extension of the roof so that isn't an issue, it's the front bar.

I am going to try the factory bars assuming Mercedes has figured this out but I would be annoyed if the sunroof interferes since I like the bars to be on at all times.

According to https://mbworld.org/forums/gle-class...ml#post8417716 the factory bars won't allow the sunroof to open either.

Although not fully related to this question, I noticed that when I open th sun roof on a panarama roof vehicle, it only opens up about half way. Is that normal? I thought my ML with the same roof opened up almost all the way to the cross piece that holds the screen

Here's how far my panorama roof opens - doesn't go all the way to the interior crossbar.
