Floor mats I got OEM. I want to get a cargo liner, after seeing your comments and other comments about cleated design on OEM cargo liner, I started checking on tuxmat and Weather tech. I like the weather tech design, but I read many comments from many folks saying good things about tuxmat,

If you want to use grip retainers, I recommend going with WeatherTech. I use WeatherTech retainers on my TuxMat, and they hold okay, but not as well as they held on the WeatherTech mat.

I think I am one of the first people here on this forum who used the tuxmats. I have them in all of my vehicles but I will never replaced the hard liner coming from the manufacturer as it won't take the beating and abuse when you throw something hard and sharp on the tuxmat trunk liner. Drag something sharp and heavy and that thing will rip-off so be aware of the limitation of the tuxmats. I was given a test sample of that mat as I am a distributor of the mats to test out and when I dragged my 70lb e-bike across it, it damaged the top layer were as on the hard MB liner it just glided with ease and took the abuse like it was nothing. Take note I drag 3 ebikes on the GLE's back every week since spring last year and the liners still look like new. Also if you look at the design of the tuxmat's liner it will never hold any liquid not like the MB liner which is actually a small tub. The small lip on the MB liner has saved my interior a few times already when leaking juice box and crushed milk cartoons started spilling out liquid which I don't believe the tuxmat liners will do. On the ML I know there is a high tub liner available not sure on the GLE. These combo is 100% tested and proven to take the abuse base on how I use the back of the GLE. Anyone who is constantly putting heavy objects on the back should have these two especially the load sill protector.

Depends on what you think you will put on the back of the trunk and expectations of protection. For looks go with the tuxmat but for utility go with the MB liners as they will take the abuse and will store some liquid in the liners and won't spill to the tail gate when you hit the accelerator.

If you are buying the tuxmats make sure to give the company a call first BEFORE ordering it online (amazon or direct). This assures you there is stock available. I would also suggest to go through the amazon route as well as it gives the buyer "more" options when returning a defective product.

To those thinking what the tuxmat looks like on the GLE here it is. There is another thread that someone replaced the tuxmat badge with a AMG logo on it. If you have a 3rd row option these mats are perfect to protect the back especially if you have kids at the back.

The durability of the OE mat wasn't the issue, it was the cleats and how they prevent items from sliding even when you want them too. Sliding a box or crate can be a challenge, and the more the item weighs the more difficult it becomes. The design makes the OE mat great for transporting, but lousy for loading/unloading. I kept my MB mat, but I doubt I'll ever use it again. If the TuxMat ever fails on me, I'll buy a WeatherTech to avoid the frustration.

I also use oem for the rear cargo area. TuxMat just for front and middle. Love the Tuxmats.

Thanks for all great responses and posting pictures. For OE liner, is there any place we can order other than going to the dealership and buying from them ? I decided to go with either Weather tech or OE liner. Weather Tech Cargo liner is available only from weathertech.com and they are charging $134 and no free shipping. I did not call the dealer yet about the pricing of OE liner.

Any other places I should check ?

There is a trick I do when I load heavy things on the OE mat. I put a towel under the item I load then it just slides easily. When I want to remove the item from the back I just pull the towel and it will slide out without a hassle. You will surely add a cover or something when you put a heavy item on the tuxmat liner so try that trick. The moving guys have a blanket that they use for moving so see if you can get one or just get a extra large towel. If you use a milk box or any of the foldable box trays it catches perfectly on the OE liner's extrusions and it won't make the box move.

You can go eitherway as both are almost the same. The OE has the MB logo on it. Just go with the one that is cheaper and easier to get. I am not sure if weathertech is like the MB's liner that have lip on all sides. If you are thinking of liquid spill and the weathertech has a flat side on the bumper area I would go with the OE liner as it is considered as a shallow tub design.

Thank you. I went with Weather tech. I did not like the cleats design on OE liner. I will check weather tech Once I get it, If I don't like it I will go with OE liner.
