Just curious if on model year 2022 GLEs , has the whistling sound emanating from the driver’s side mirror and the poorly aligned fuel filler door problem been corrected? Thanks

Yes the whistling is a common problem that has been discussed here before. I can’t remember what it actually was or if a remedy was found but try searching.
My 450 was bult in April of '21. No whistling and the fuel door fit is perfect.
I've had neither problem on either of my 167s

Our 2022 GLE 450 built in mid-October does not have the issues dealing with the whistle noise nor the fuel filler door

Gas Cap not flush:
This may sound weird but my cap was flush when I received the car. But one day I noticed the bottom right corner of the cap was not flush with the side of the car. I pushed on it and it would not line up. So, I opened it up and noticed the rubber cord that connects the gas cap and the hinge seemed to be in the way of the hinge when closing. I found you need to make sure the cord is moved up around the gas cap in order to get it out of the way of the hinge when you close the lid. When I did this, the lid once again lined up.

Whistling mirror not fixed on 2022 GLE. Purchased a 2022 GLE450 late October, been to the dealer multiple times for the issue. They replaced the mirror cap and it got worse. They are waiting to find out if there are other options to try and repair. I’m going to send the service manager the bulletin from another thread. The service department doesn’t have any idea how to fix the issue. It’s a total no2 show. In discussions with their sales GM to take the vehicle back. What a nice vehicle to have such an annoying issue to ruin the MB experience.Originally Posted by Bryce1023

if anyone else finds a solution other than the “carbon fiber cap of the mirror cap” please share.
I believe that there’s a replacement cover from MB , that will correct the problem. Please check some related threads that just talk about whistling mirror. The part #is also posted.Your dealership will have to order the part, paint it, then install it. Good luck

Mirror cap replacement was already done. The service department ordered a new cover, painted and installed. The whistle got worse. The service manager is waiting on MB to furnish other options. Not likely a solution. Best solution is getting more likely to not to buy the GLE or GLS. In my case return the vehicle. Some people may only listen to music or talk radio so it doesn’t matter. But for anyone who likes to just drive, the whistle is stupidly annoying. What a terrible design.Originally Posted by Bryce1023

Can you confirm the part number of the replacement mirror cover? Is it the new design part number?Originally Posted by kruzomatic

The invoice for the individual (Daso) in the other thread that had his housing replaced is copied below. Looks like a different part number. Perhaps you had same faulty design part installed?Originally Posted by kruzomatic

I have a fall 2020 build GLE and I don't have the problem. I did find that I get a wind noise above 60mph but it seemed to be coming from the rear driver side door. I had a similar problem several years ago on another car, wind noise when the outside temp started to get cold. A friend of mine suggested that I spray some dry silicone on the rubber gaskets around the door and that seemed to work. I wonder if the mirror issue is related to the slit in the plastic where the two parts of the cover come together. I put so much wax on my car after I got it, I think the seam is filled. Considering some had the part changed, perhaps taking it apart and putting a new one on made a change in the seam making it worse. Worth a shot

I had the fuel door issue. It was completely replaced at my first service and looks exactly like the original. Not aligning.Originally Posted by Bryce1023

I really don’t understand how a Mercedes Certified Technician can completely change the fuel filler door and return the car to you looking as if nothing was done. I hope that they offered you an explanation and a remedy…..Originally Posted by bkushner

It should be pretty easy to do. Just remove the filler door assembly, swap the painted part onto the new assembly and stick it in there!Originally Posted by Bryce1023

Strange I just started noticing the whistling noise during our recent trip. I was driving at around 80 MPH and heard this high pitch whistling noise from the drive's mirror area. I haven't heard this before during our many extended drives so I thought it was strange. Maybe it's because we normally play music while driving so that masked the noise.
It's not loud enough to bother me now so I'll wait till the 10K service and get it fixed then.

Exact same experience. 2020 GLE. Drivers side mirror housing has been replace FOUR times over my two years of ownership...and it still sounds like a whistling tea pot...occurs in cold weather (under 35 to 40 degrees F) and at speeds above 60 to 65MPH. Just got the vehicle back yesterday after the FOURTH attempt and still as bad as ever. Service advisor said no point in bringing it back again...which means they have no solution. I am in contact with an attorney who has accepted my case with no out of pocket and will sue Mercedes on breach of warranty. Like you, I don't always listen to music...even when I do, you hear the tea-pot boiling! Have written Mercedes USA, asked them to take the vehicle back and reimburse me...the simply said "NO". This is truly the worse vehicle experience I have ever had. Have owned everything from Honda, Toyota to Audi, BMW, Lexus, Porsche...and NEVER been through such a bad experience. Will NEVER buy another MB. Good luck to all others with this same issue.Originally Posted by kruzomatic

Would recommend you buy a GLE and apparently the GLS has the same issue. I have had my 2020 GLE in over 8 times for this issue...and they have replaced the mirror housing 4 or 5 times...the whistling tea pot noise can't be fixed. Filing a breach of warranty claim. Worst car ownership experience I have ever had...and I have owned practically all major brands! First and last MB I will have...

Simply no solution! My GLE has been in a 8 to 10 times for this...multiple attempts to replace mirror housing....never improves...suing MB for breach of warranty.

Tested my GLE last night at +80mph and no whistling in my car. Maybe it is not the actual mirror guys.Originally Posted by blak
