You're absolutely right in that regard, while harmless it is illegal... and as the saying goes "curiosity killed the cat." 😂

That might end with some legal consequences.
Most of his complaints were found to be unsubstantiated by forum members, and his dealer as well.
But it IS the interweb, and everything is true.

Let's hope the new owner (if actually sold and not titled in the dealer's name) gets on the Forum and reveals the true nature of the car.
I'll bet they can figure out the turn signals all by themselves. Or how tires work, or what cruise control does, or how to make the car downshift. I'll bet they won't attack every suggestion to help them understand how those things work.

I don't believe the story that Carfax is "assigning" every car he's owned either, for him to follow.

I almost forgot about this forum. I’m glad to be back to speak the truth about this model and that wretched production line.

May I know where you got the x5 rebate information ?

I love how Mikapen, a person who has never set foot in my car nor seen it in real life, is trying to tell me there’s nothing wrong with it. That forum advice from a description of my issues is somehow more substantiated than my fist-hand experience. And, he keeps repeating this over and over again every time I try to give my thoughts on this vehicle which I dumped before 2,000 miles because of the issues. Normally that is funny to me, but it’s actually kind of sad if you think about it as I am human and have some empathy.

Hurricane Isabel was 20 years ago. Websites like Edmunds and KBB have information on available rebates and incentives.

2023 GLE 450
It always amazes me on a few forums how some defensive members always have to respond to each and every entry.

back to the topic, I should have done my homework on the BMW, although I am super happy with my 450, I was wrong to assume the bmw had continued to have the same reliability issues from the past. But now I know. I don’t think I would have chosen the x5 because of the backseat room, but it’s fun to know I’ll be looking at the brand in the future.

If you call refuting stupid trolling accusations as defensive, so be it. You want the definition of defensive, just watch over the next few weeks at the response to my posts while I speak my mind about this car.

not speaking form the experiance of owning either but I have rented a GLE and X5 in the same week.
GLE overall drives better, its more comfortable and the infotament system isnt hot garbage.

Is iDrive that bad? In what way is MBUX better than iDrive? and what do you hate about iDrive?

I personally prefer iDrive (7) over MBUX. I find MBUX confusing. I also prefer X5’s instrumental display. MBUX has few more options but they all look weird IMO. As for reliability our X5 is about 30k older than our GLE but it’s issue free. Maybe we were not lucky but the GLE loaner I had last week also had broken AC. It’s even newer than ours.

Do you like the new iDrive 8 or perhaps iDrive 9, did you get a chance to test MBUX 2.0 (NTG 7.0, myMBUX) over the MBUX 1.0 (NTG 6.0) that the GLE pre-facelift has and see if you like it better?

the idrive setup just isnt user friendly, Iv rented well over 100 different cars this year, in each one i can hop in get all my settings setup and go. with this it took me quite a bit longer to find all the settings though the menu. its overcomplicated for no reason. mbux in that sense is better. they system makes sense, all the options are exactly where they need to be and you dont need to flip through the menus

bmw itself as a car isnt horrible but in comparison to the benz its not as comfortable, more road noise

both cars are packed with different assists, you can turn them all or most of them off in the bmw but again it takes more effort to find everything, only option i generally leave on is the backup camera but everything else is just overkill.
I drove the bmw 800 miles in a 24hour period and I only accidently found the button to turn off lane keep assist, so damn sensitive, driving through NYC with that assist was a nightmare.

the bmw in my opinion isnt even in the same playing field.

If it were me I would be comparing the gle with a q7, now thats a tough choice

Thanks for your comparison, is this iDrive 7 or iDrive 8 that you compared with and is it comparing to MBUX 1.0 or MBUX 2.0?

Q7? Would like to hear more about why you have a tough time deciding it over the GLE.

Unfortunately I have not. I personally don't like iDrive 8 either but people seem fine. The thing I hate most sitting in the GLE is the big flat screen. Once you experience the way the BMW's screen is set up, the GLE's screen looks very strange. Tesla knows about this and on their S and X, they allow you to tilt the screen.

IMO both cars are complex hence one should expect to have many different settings. For BMW, I can hit setting and they are all there. Of course, some will take more than one step to get to. And that's why BMW's iDrive7 has eight buttons where you can assign to anything you want and can just hit to get to either a feature or setting you want. Lane keep assist is fine IMO. They also have different sensitivity levels. What caused you to trouble most likely is the steering assist. They also have different setting levels but I do agree steering assist can be abrupt and I do have that off. Since we're on assist topic, I have to turn blind spot assist off on the GLE. I know it's crazy to have to turn off that safety feature but it screams and scares the heck out of her, sometimes for no reason. I didn't believe her until I experienced it. Turning left at a light and it screams at you when you are on the left-est lane. I don't know what it senses but it happens quite a bit. It either sense the bushes or the car on the other direction. Even when turning into the garage, my garage is not even that steep but if screams like someone is going to get killed.

MB has a tilting screen too I guess, in the R232 SL but that is a story for another time.

My vehicle does that as well, pretty much every time I'm on the outside of a dual left-turn lane. The system thinks I'm doing a lane change and might hit the vehicle in the inner left-turn lane so it can't differentiate this specific situation. It's less bothersome for me since I made the notification tone to the lowest pitch and lowest volume but it is still an annoying thing and I think I'll write to MBUSA about it here (you should do the same):

Just pretend you are driving a BMW and don't use the turn signal. It shouldn't warn you because it doesn't think you are trying to change lanes.

While everyone has their own opinion, having had both, I think the below hit just right.

I personally think the M sports looks more “man” than the GLE AMG line. And the GLE interior doesn’t give me any wow at all esp when CarPlay is connected. I was telling an uber (Toyota) driver about this and he doesn’t think I know what I’m talking about because he has wireless and fullscreen CarPlay on his Toyota. Lol

both cars had under 3k on the dash so I am assuming they had the latest equipment

as for q7 vs gle
q7 feels like a bigger suv (not sure if it is), feels more stable driving. infotament unit on the q7 is definetly superiour and well quattro; cant beat quattro
im die hard mb fan but...4matic in comparison to the quattro is garbage. living in a harsh winter area its an important factor. when it snows here depending on how the road looks like from the house is what tells me if i should take the q5 or the E class wagon. I havent driven the gle in the snow so I cant say how it drives; with that said Id have to do more tests, in terms of appearance and luxury I am leaning towards q7
