Found a strange issue with a USB-C SSD drive on my EQB (same U21 dashcam and same electronics). I bought a Samsung T7 1tb SSD for dashcam. Car writes an MP4 file I was unable to read any of the files on any Mac in my studio. It should be able to read on VLC, which PC or Mac reads anything but no luck. I switched to a simple SD card in a USB-C reader (in this case a 64gb card) and computers read the data perfectly. Need to experiment with another SSD drive of a different manufacturer.
How is that 1tb SSD formatted? I am using a 250GB USB-C stick formatted ExFat with no problems. Files show up and play using VLC. Finder even displays a preview for each file. How is that SSD drive powered? Maybe the USB-C port doesn't produce adequate power.
Drive is formatted ExFat. VLC can open the file but video track is empty. Neither Adobe Media Encoder nor Apple Compressor can find a video track to transcode. First thing I am going to do is reformat that Samsung T7. Then I'll try another SSD or USB stick. Very strange.
Bought a usb c flash drive and tested it out. The dash cam does automatically start recording when turned on. I replayed the videos on the car but there isn’t any audio. Does it record videos with no audio or would I have to hook it up to my laptop to have audio?
The video quality is low at 720p, making it difficult to discern details. It has no audio which could pose legal issues in California. However, MBNZ disabled the auto start feature in the USA anyway. The low resolution combined with the time needed to manually start the recordings made the built-in cameras ineffective. So I installed separate high resolution front and rear cameras instead.

The autostart feature works on my 2024 USA GLE450. It also records at 1920 x 1280. I'm not sure who MBNZ is, but they haven't disabled the autostart feature in the US.

correspondence from Mercedes Benz USA, they have stated the recording must be manually started. It's clear that your 2024 model and my 2021 model, along with many others before me, function differently than yours. My vehicle was listed as having the 21U package. Thanks to the information you provided I reopened the case and requested an update from Mercedes Benz USA.
Mine has the 21U package also. It pops a message up when starting the car. You can tap the message to get a legal disclaimer to make the lawyers happy. If you do nothing, the message disappears after a couple of seconds and it continues to record.

Have been looking for dashcam aftermarket. - The dashcam in my 2024 GLE450 - will only do the front - so still need a rear camera (don't know if the 360 camera will do it if vehicle is moving or only when parked. Which aftermarket camera did you go with? and are you still happy with it? TIA
I purchased a Garmin dashcam due to its compact size and useful features. Most aftermarket dashcams have similar internal components, with the external housing being the main difference. The Garmin model is smaller than many other options and stands out from the crowd.

Is this a screenshot of your 2013 ML or a newer 2024 GLE?
This is my new GLE 450 Which I picked up last weekend. I had augmented video on the order which uses the same chip as dash cam. (The order deleted the dash cam on the order) . Logged into the MB Shop. Was surprised to see could add the camera for a one time charge of $200 which was same price if it would be included in build. Took about an hour to activate.
Went into apps on MBUX system and was able to see settings. Using a 1T Scandisk micro sd card with mini c adapter to USB in glove box. Will test it out today as C adapter being delivered by Amazon. Hope this helps.
