Michelin Tire Noise

The tires are wearing normally and probably have another 10,000 miles of life left on the tread.
Anyone else have these tires and experienced the same noise? What about the other options such as the Pirelli Scorpion or Continental tires? I expect to be tire shopping this summer. This is the first set of Michelins I have ever been less than pleased with. I had the Pirelli Scorpion AS plus 3 on my BMW X5 and was very happy with those tires. Unfortunately, Pirelli doesn't make that tire in a size for my GLE 450.

Had a GLE450 with those tires. By 30k miles they would hydroplane even though they had 4-5/32's of tread left. I do not recall the sound. I do recall the handling. A new set and it drove like new again. It bothrered me enough that I traded it for a GLE63 which drives and handles so much differently it is difficult to believe they are both similar looking GLE's

Our '24 GLE 580 has those Pirelli's as original equipment, for the 21" staggered wheels. I just put a set of the Michelins Primacy's on my mother-in-law's GLE 450 with the same staggered 21" wheel size - they are better rated. Though they get noisy, they wear longer than the Pirelli's and Conti's, especially on full-time AWD vehicles.

Not sure why your Primacy behaves the way they do, but if you have to replace them, I'd consider the Michelin Pilot Cross-climate2 in the standard 275/50/20 size. These are excellent All-Weather (with the 3 peak symbol) tires, and not just All-Season tires. For my 21s, the Cross-Climate2s were not available in the staggered sizes, and hence I went with the Yokohamas.

Either way, whether it is in FL or not, those are premium Michelin tires, and think of the All-weather aspect as just icing on the cake, since getting a 3-peak mountain rating for a tire, requires a variety of parameters in the tire being above the norm, if the "norm" is a high quality all-season tire. I believe the carcass of the CrossClimate2, is based on the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 4 (Ultra-High Performance All-Season category), which is a top-notch tire from the Michelin stable.
Note that the Yokohama is an XL-rated, W-speed rated tire (very close to the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S or the Cross-climate2s), which is considerably higher than the Michelin Primacy tires, and thus its internal construction would be far superior to the Primacys.
