Not sure what I am doing wrong here hopefully someone more knowledgeable can help. I just took delivery of a 2016 GLE 350 and it has carplay which works with my wife's Iphone 6sPlus but it will initially hook up to my 5s then disconnects saying that no carplay device is attached. I have siri turned on which I found is required for both phones. I routed a route on my 5s and plugged in the firewire and it hooked up and i chose the route and it started to work then disconnected. Frustrating. Any input will be most appreciated.
Yes I do, ISO 9.3.1. I am about out of ideas on this thing. I would sure like to be able to use it after spending my money on it. Seems like a very nice app to have.

It's just ok. You might use it a few times to humor yourself - but then you willl use the regular system 100% of the time unless impressing a friend. There's only a few apps and limited functionality. It's ok. Consider it something to look foeward to once it gets work ok.
At least you figured it is your iphone that is the problem The 7 comes out soon so upgrade! Or upgrade now :-)
No problems with 5s and 9.3.2 iOS version. also I love it. Just for the maps alone. it's LIGHTyears better than any other incar nav, well atleast from bmw,audi,merc,LR, etc. haven't tried tesla yet.

Originally mine found my wife's s6 plus, then after about a week, it never would again (I use a samsung S5). I had to delete the phone from the car and then delete the car from the phone a couple of times and now it connects everytime without a problem.

My wife has an iPhone 5S and she does not experience any of the issues you've outlined here. I wonder if it may not be a phone issue.
I love Apple CarPlay and use it all the time. It's my goto app for navigation and music. I listen to XM quite a bit and have found that I can still use CarPlay while listening to XM, but have to use the steering wheel controls to change the stations, not a big deal.
I would like to believe that CarPlay will improve as Apple releases new versions of iOS so my infotainment experience can actually get better without having to buy a new car. There are two main things I don't like about CarPlay navigation. The first is that Apple doesn't announce the next turn far enough in advance. The second is that they have this blue line that shows you the path they want you to follow. That blue line is just too wide making it difficult to follow on occasions.
Other than that I love it, and can't wait for the next update.
Well, I said 2 things about the navigation bug me, but there are 2 other things I don't like as well. The app ecosystem is a lacking and you can't rearrange the apps on the screen.
I'll try to have my dealer give it a shot today and let me know. I attached the build sheet here. Where should it have CarPlay listed? It's supposed to be standard, correct?
Also, need to decide on the color today. What're everyone's thoughts on the Lunar vs. the Brilliant, which is on the C coupes next to it.
Car play does not show up on the window sticker, but the dealer build sheet does show it, ask them to pull up the order for your car and you can verify it is installed.

If you can take a look at the sticker on the side of the driver-side door to see the manufacturing date, if it's made after Jan. 8 or 9 this year, then it's likely to have Carplay standard, as others have noted on this board.
