2017 GLE350 Running board install
Just purchased aftermarket boards for this vehicle and wanted to share how easy it was to do the install. Took approximately 1 hour for each side

(So I'm assuming this is pretty much the same way in reverse if you want to take your running boards off)
No special pieces came off that do not get used to install your new running boards?
Do those side pieces that you took off have a part number on them anywhere?
Are these rocker panels (I think that's what they are called) or side peices usually painted to match the cars?
And lastly, does anyone want to get rid of their side (non running board) pieces?

BACnMercedes - I replaced my running board with the rocker panel. I found a set on ebay motors from a savage yard. There are two types of rocker panels for the GLE/ML. The standard ones are always black. There is one that comes with the AMG kits which is body painted, but they are very hard to find.
What I did was sand the black texture and have mine painted to match the car. One other thing the standard rocker has a piece of chrome whereas the AMG does not. Check out my pic to see what mine looks like. Also, be advised, the factory black rocker is textured and requires alot of sanding and prepping. One other option which I thought about too late was to have it vinyl wrapped which would have been much easier.. Also, I paid a body shop to remove the running board and install the rocker panels.
