Do hybrids need to get some kind of approval for every model year like the diesels?

It's still listed on the German site as GLE500e

According to jesmb.de the face lifted S Class is getting the new 3 liter I6 with 367HP + 122 electric HP and will be released in September as S560e. That means (hopefully) that we are getting a GLE560e

I remember the I6 engines in the W124 and W201, especially the 2.6 engine and I think this new I6 is going to be buttery smooth. Plus the non hybrid cars are getting the starter-generator which is built into the transmission and helps saving fuel while giving a little extra boost during acceleration.

The only sad thing is that the new S500 won't have a V8 engine anymore, it's going to be the 3 liter I6 with 430 HP.

One significant change I see is the AMG 43 gets boosted horsepower to 385hp.
It is exactly the same engine as 2017 so is this possibly a tweak to the turbo boost?
Wondering if there will be an ECU revision to bring the 2017's to the same horsepower?
Fabs any comments on this?
