Need your advise on 2016 GLE CPO
Hi all ... normally I post on my E350, but now I’m looking at a 2016 CPO GLE that has most all of the same features my E350 has for my wife. I normally buy new, but this GLE has most/all that I want and my wife’s truck (2010 RX 450H) was just totaled.
This unit’s VIN (4jgda5hbxge803027) shows most all of my desired features, the body is clean and I want to know if $41,817 with 22262 miles is a good deal or not. It is at a dealer I kind-of trust as I know the shop foreman.
Carfax reports damage that required the vehicle to be towed on 3/28/18 at 11064 miles. Is there a way to find out exactly was damaged and repaired? What else should I inspect on the truck, what might be the issues I should look for or ask about, and what should I be asking that I don’t know enough to ask?
Finally, what “wiggle-room” might they have and how much should I press for? I might also want to buy an extended warranty to 75k/10 year on top of the CPO to minimize future issues.
Thanks in advance!

Seems pretty well optioned. The price seems a bit high, but if you like it, buy it.
The only options I didn't see listed on cargurus or the VIN decoder, are rear center seat pass through, and running boards (side steps). In other words, the P2 package. This vehicle seems to have a lot of stand alone options, as opposed to packages.
It has premium audio, which I assume is the harman kardon system, is that right? Or does it have the Bang and Olufsen system?
Regarding the warranty, that is a personal choice. The 3.5L M276 is pretty reliable, but things happen. Warranties are priced so that the warranty company benefits in the long term, for most customers. Nothing wrong with that, just be aware of how it works. You do receive some peace of mind for the price paid for the warranty.

Thanks Classic for the feedback. From the build sheet, it has the HK Logic7 sound system. I’m off to see the truck later today.

2023 GLE3502W, 2024 GLC3002W, 1967 Pontiac GTO 4 sp (for sale)
We purchased a '14 ML350 loaded to the gills in Sept 2016 w/30k on the clock. Orig sticker price was $68,360 without 4matic which would have added $2.5k to the price. Car was advertised at $41,495. Suggest you do 2 things. Ask to see the original window sticker info and ask to see the Vehicle Master Inquiry. Then there is no doubt about how the car is equipped. And the incident with the tow truck may show up on the VMI. If you are not trading in, haggle starting at say 10% less. They'll huff an puff and maybe come down $500.00. Come up $1,500 to show you're serious. Maybe they will come down another $500.00. If you like the car come up to $40k and tell them you want new tires. After that you're own your own.
Re the VMI, I asked to see it before I bought both of my MB's. On the '14 GL450 it showed that the rear main seal was replaced. I asked that they put the car on a lift and remove the bottom covering to see if there was any evidence of continued oil leakage, which there was not.
Re the extended warranty, you don't have to buy the extra 2 year CPO extension until the 5 years (from new) CPO coverage is near to expiring. I bought the extra 2 years of CPO for each of my MB's thru one of the dealers on this site for $2520.00 each.

Thanks everyone. The GLE was in poor shape and the dealer wouldn’t share much information. In my test drive, several drive assist options had been turned off, and there was much more body roll than expected. Lots of curb rash on the wheels and two flat tire repairs within a year. It just didn’t feel right, so I walked away.

Definitely the right call. I bought a CPO 2017 GLE350 with 17k miles very well equipped a couple weeks ago for less than $40k. More fully equipped than I even wanted, right color combo,.... This was in the Seattle market which has plenty of folks willing to pay asking price.
Certainly if it is in questionable condition run away. There are great deals to be had.

I am turning in my lease gle 350 4matic tomorrow to get the new one. It will most likely become a cpo and is in perfect shape. Has 41k miles on it and has p2, premium sound; massage seats, blk mb tex, selenite grey, 20inch rims, airmatic suspension, natural brown ash wood, mb tex wrapped dash, wood steering wheel, magic vision control, rear heated seats, 3 zone ac, and non smoker, no accidents, and was always taken to the mb dealer for everything. Happy to get you in touch with my dealer if you are interested: here are some pics when it was new:

I wish I had a better feeling about the whole CPO process. Everything I've read suggests that they do a Type B Service to make sure everything is up to snuff and clean and then add thousands to the price. I've had my best luck with personal auto brokers that shop for you for the best car, carefully review it and then offer it to you as a choice. If you don't like it they move on. They typically charge $500 to $1500 dollars for their service which is much much less than a dealer markup. I've paid typically KBB Trade-In for the price plus the the mark up. I've bought my last 6 cars this way and have always been happy. I use Jeremy at ecarhouse <dot> com in the Dallas area ( and he ships ) but there may be closer people to you. Mycarangel <dot> com in the San Diego area has many YouTubes about this and does his main work as a broker too.
