GLE W166 Taking apart the Temp cupholder

Has anyone took apart the temperature control cupholder?

There is few things I need to fix on the cupholder.
  1. How do you remove the Temp switch do I pry this out from the top?
  2. I need to replace the flap that spring loaded (what ever you call it) that secure the drink inside the cupholder. How do I replace this?
  3. The roller blind cover the handle came off. I have watch plenty of ML how to do video's. Is this straight forward for the GLE or something I need to be aware of?
I have watch plenty of video for the ML and GL how to remove the center console to get the cupholder out. I can't find any video for the GLE.

The switch just pops out. I first tried to clean mine... full of crud from spilled drinks... needed to replace.

To remove console look at videos for ML/GL W166 ... the GLE should be very similar...

That's what I thought about the switch. I want to make sure I'm not breaking any tabs. When I cleaned mine the coating where the image on top of the switch peeled off.
I have looked at the videos for the ML/GL W166 and X166. Was wondering if it's the same way for the GLE.

I watched one of the ML W166 console removal videos. GLE should be the same. I think the cupholder assembly is removed from the bottom of the center console, which means the console needs to be removed first.

I'm planning to dive into it in few weeks at the shop. Waiting for my son and wife to travel for Thanksgiving week.

I finally got to it. The switch it’s better to remove the whole cup holder out or unless you can pinch in the (2) clips in while pulling it out you can see in the photo.

To remove the console (2) T30 and (2) T27 (inside the arm rest silver bolts and the other 2 is under the cubby under the AC control. Remove the white main harness and (2) blue smaller harness maybe 3.

Console is out getting ready to remove the cup holder

I replaced the spring cup flap. You do need to take the cup holder apart. The only access is to remove the top black face to get access.

After I put everything back together I notice the red light turned on automatically and stays on after I shut the motor off for another 30 or so seconds. I was reading on the Audi forums. The Audi does this when the sun beams hit on the metal part (wall) on the cup holder and the red light turn on and goes off till it cool down. Is this true on our GLE?

If my friend can order me the roller blind curtain handle from the dealer I be removing the cup holder again.

The red light was on after I shut the engine off and the cup holder temp switch was never on.

Have not confirm yet. Looking at the manual the red light is a Residual heat indicator lamp. It's to indicates that the cupholder is still hot. I'm sure it was warming up by the sun rays (sunbeam). The light been off yesterday and today. I did the job on Saturday. I like to see if anyone can confirm this.

No luck on getting the blind roller handle from the dealer. I'm looking at all options. May just purchase an aftermarket blind roller and swap the handle over, I may end up 3D printing the mounting bracket or maybe some how use longer screws and sandwich it.

As for the red light goes. It never came back on. I'm sure the sun rays was heating up the cupholder since i had the blind roller open.

Any one wants the stock spec of the roller blind handle (2) Torx 8 (T-8) bolts it’s in mm. I order a bunch of M2 and M2.5 bolts assortment kit. It's in transit. I decided to use longer bolts to reattach the handle onto the existing OEM roller blind.
