New member 2016 GLE 350 problems
Hello everyone! Just found this site trying to research problems with my 2016 GLE 350 with 80,000 miles. I had a recall done recently for a water link that got it my spare tire well and made the engine stall. My dealer had not heard of the recall but researched it and completed it and all seemed well. Then about a month later things started happening. My key fob stopped working. Changed batteries still would not work. 2nd fob the same way. Then the lane sensing became inoperable as well as the traction and collision assist. Then the push button start stopped working. Only can use key to start. Cruise control inoperable, hold brake won’t work either. Not sure what is going on but my mechanic has had it for several weeks and can’t figure it out. Seems like it all started with the water leak that got into the sensors. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks so much for your help!

Welcome! Sorry to hear about the leak and electrical problems.
Replace main and auxiliary batteries.
Then read codes with an OBD tool.
Then inspect every fuse in the vehicle.
Then report back.

Mechanic says he replaced both batteries and checked fuses and all good.
Had recall campaign 2023010002-22P6490011 performed at end of December after I heard sloshing noises then my car died while on the highway most likely the FSCU module. After a month other items started to fail. First both Key fobs wouldn’t work even with new batteries, the push button start stopped working, would crank fine with key, collision avoidance, lane changing, cruise control inoperable.
Mechanic found water under front floorboard possibly due to recall they supposedly repaired. When he does a scan he gets N304 Electronic Stability Control Module and B24/15 Yaw Rate sensor.
I have a call into dealership that performed the recall campaign to see if they will do anything to help but not holding my breath.

The recall dealt with water intrusion in the trunk in the spare tire area… so water in the drivers area under the floorboard might mean what? A flood vehicle??? YIKES!!!

Vehicle hasn’t been in any water other than rain and as much water as there was in spare tire well, I can understand how water went everywhere. Just don’t understand why the dealership didn’t check this when they did the recall service.

So I had the exact same recall checked and taken care of on my 2017 I'm going to tell you one thing and tell you this now do not trust the dealerships Go to a good small Mercedes European specific mechanic. It sounds like to me something definitely got corroded in your electrical system if your modules are failing. You should not be having these problems It's a great SUV report back after going to a mechanic that won't feed you a bunch of bull like the dealership. Best of luck! Ps I have done a lot of work on my GLE w166 myself so if you have any questions post them. I Will let you know if I can help 👍

This OBD2 for your 2016 w166
I almost forgot this is a great scanning tool that will check every module in that vehicle. What I personally recommend doing is making sure to get your plugs redone with new coil packs, a good proper transmission flush and double check all your relays. But definitely get this OBD2 Mercedes specific scanner. Then you can go to the mechanic armed with information! -----------
