WTF! Check Engine Light at 11k miles!

WTF! Check Engine Light at 11k miles!

Got a Check Engine Light (CEL) about 2 weeks ago. Used a code reader and got code P0308 which is 'Cylinder 8 Misfire Detected'. Taking to dealer tomorrow. Wouldn't have expected a CEL or misfire with only 11,700 miles on my GLE63s

Could be bad plug or injector...I bet they clear it (again) and wait for it to happen again then maybe react...

Maybe both but more easy. I don't race or track. When I do performance drive it's usually for just seconds.

I fear something serious. Dropped car at dealership on Monday and no updates yet. Sent email this morning. Another issue was the car never goes into EQ Start/Stop mode in at least 8 months. I cannot get the car to turn off at stop lights while in Comfort/EQ mode.

Very common to have misfire issues on these V8s, it has been happening since they came out. I have been out of MB since the end of last year but i'd be surprised if they have actually fixed it at this point, they were over a year in and were still guessing at things. Don't worry, that's what your warranty is for, they will fix it.

I bought my 2019 GLE AMG 63s a little more than a month ago and it’s been in and out of the shop more than in my garage. The 1st Time it was a door issue and and when they called me to pick it up it was running rough. The next day the CEL was on and I took it back. They claimed it was a misfire. They had it for over a week. I pick up the vehicle and within a week, the CEL is back on. Now the service department says its a fuel pump issue. Claims that the misfire code is now related to the low pressure fuel pump. I just couldn’t believe my brand new car would have these issues. So I go to the shop because my Mercedes App shows me that my at was turned on/off about 30 times in 5 minutes. I was told by the mechanic that he had to do that to drain the fuel out of the tank. When I see my car, my drive shaft is on the floor and one mechanic looked as if he was trying to tell me this will not fix your problem. This is my third and last mercedes. I doubted that the new fuel pump would fix the issue and when I asked the mechanic if it would, he said I don’t know. At least he was honest. I will add that my dealer has been very supportive of my issue but enough is enough.

Italian Joe, any thoughts?

I also had my first c/e light after about 25k kms...I ran a scan but decided not to clear and took to the dealer..they cleared them and called after a week to check status...none returned...this was 4 weeks ago....I suspect it was the -38C temp we had and/or bad fuel...my GLE has been faultless...except for a few minor trim issues,,,exhaust tip peeling a little...replaced under warranty...I replaced the rear brake pads myself,,,that's it !!

hmm i was thinking of clearing it but will take it to the stealership to make sure all is well

It's OK to clear it. Dealer will still see a CEL. Clearing a CEL is not gonna remove from the system entirely.

I used CARISTA.


Update on my Cylinder 8 Misfire. I took it into the stealership this morning. Was a malfunctioning coil. Should get it back tomorrow. 7k MILES!!

I do drive the car very hard though. Like a sports car. Haha
