Getting ready to order GLE 53 AMG
I’m getting ready to order and was wondering if anybody would care to comment on question I have on tires-21” vs 22”. I love the look or the black 22” rims but like my ride less hard, don’t care to much to feel the road. Do you think the 21” ride will be noticeably
better , somewhat softer notwithstanding the various drive modes?

My opinion might not be quite as helpful, but I went from 21's in my 2021 GLE 450 with regular steel suspension to a 2021 GLE 63 with 22's and while I now have the air suspension to help (which is amazing) I am surprised at how nice the 22's ride over small potholes and bumps, but it still isn't quite as supple as the 450 with 21's. I had no choice on the 22's and would have likely prefered 21's especially for the NE and having more choices for all season tires. I'd also say it depends on where you live. I'd probably say 21's

What did you drive before?
I ordered a 63 coupe with the 22s (and will have to deal with the pain of finding all seasons like Daso mentioned) but my current car is a BRZ and I'm used to a stiff ride so I expect there is no way that the 63 even on 22s will feel worse.

Your comparison is somewhat skewed by the ARC, but I agree with your assessment.
Availability is a factor as well.
Recommend 21's.

I just wanted to add that I'd probably be a bit more enthused if I could have picked a tire I wanted. It's still surprisingly good in comfort mode and I really don't feel any of the floatiness people have complained about in that mode.

Is ARC an option with the air suspension or for the AMG's only?

I have ARC via the Dynamic Plus pkg on my 2022 GLE 53. I researched it before ordering in late 21 and took the advice from @mikapen and added it. I'm very happy with the ride on 22 inch rims. Very smooth, really, in C mode. I didn't drive a gle with 21s but I tried a gle 350 with 19s and it was very floaty... Not really for spirited driving if you enjoy that from time to time. I bet the 21s are even better for comfort than 22s, especially if your roads are a bit rough. I'm in Florida so summer rubber is all I need. If you encounter snowy winters, the 21s will have more options for suitable winter tires.

19 E63s(wifeys) & a 21 GLE580
Not sure if you’ve pulled the trigger yet or can change, but my 22s seems to make the rear end bounce side to side a lot over rough roads. The rear ends seems to jump around. I had a GLE 350 loaner for awhile with 21s, I think that size but know they were smaller, and it had a lot less “jump” over problems in the road. My 580 is very smooth except for problems in the road where as that 350 with the smaller wheels took rough roads better.
Oh yeah, one more thing. I’m at about 31k miles and about to buy my third set of tires. There are not many all season tires in this size either and nothing (all season or Michelins) are really economical in this size. MB will send the 22s as a summer only tire too. Just something else to consider.
Good luck.
