Successful Headlight Upgrade 21 -> 24

For anyone debating moving away from the 2021 through 2023 headlights, I can confirm it is a simple plug and play exercise. No wiring or coding required. The old plug fits directly into the new headlights.
I also moved to the European lights without the amber reflector. The front looks so much more updated and clean now.

The first few shots have the old light on the right and new light on the left. The final shot are new lights on each side.
Just sharing for those considering to.

Thanks for letting us know. What was the total cost of new lights and install? Does ILS+ still function normally? Do the new euro lights turn with curves?

Looks good, I actually like both styles. Others although will prefer the pre-facelift with the two strips indicating it is an E-Class. Glad to hear you like the facelift style as well.

I got the new lights used on Ebay for $1000 each.
Install was $350 and took about an hour and a half.

Install was done by Vivid Headlight in SoCal

I will confirm tonight on the ILS features, but I also have RJ teed up to do some coding for me and they confirmed they can.
I will report back.

The headlights were the one thing I didn't like about the car.
For whatever reason it looks "buck toothed" because of how the dual lines look with the shape of the vehicle.

My S-Class had the 3 bars and it looked super sexy.
The bars for me just don't work on this vehicle.

Good times!

I'd also be interested to hear if they can accommodate the additional brightness that ECE lights offer (13% I think) vs SAE. RJ has reported flickering issues with SAE. Thanks!

I'm on SoCal and I Googled that truck so great if everything checks out, I might consider this for curves and additional brightness. I actually prefer pre-facelift DRLs but brightness and curve function outweigh it (for safety reasons while driving at night).

Conformed all ILS features are working.
It may just be my brain, but the lights seem NOTICEABLY brighter.

Check out the dance at :07 of this video. It's the high beams activating automatically.
What isn't captured is the dimming and brightening of specific areas as you drive. Really cool stuff.

Very nice, I don't think it is just you, I did read (but forgot where) that the facelift headlights are brighter than pre-facelift.

That's awesome! And at 0:12 - 0:13, it looks like you have the cornering light feature. Super jealous! For some reason, North America GLE headlamps did not include in the inner cornering light that comes on in turns. The Euro headlamp assembly fortunately had this.

Yes!! I forgot to mention what it does in corners. It's crazy cool.
I was driving home tonight and the lights went to high beam and like sparkled just the middle and right and dimmed the left side. I have no idea why it did it but it was so awesome.

Looking Great! I am planning on do this as well. Are you planning on changing the taillights too?

I thought about it but the differences are so slight I decided not to.

The tails are way cheaper though.
if you do it let me know.

Anymore updates to your switch? For example, the cornering lights and brightness?

Cornering lights for sure.
You can see them in action in the video I posted when I make the turn.

I don't know how to confirm the brightness.
I know they are noticeably brighter to my eyes.

Do the face lift 2024+ US-spec headlights have the cornering lights? The lack of them is my biggest complaint on my EQS, turning into dark corners are a black hole in our neighborhood. It may be the deal killer replacing the '19 E53 with a GLE63S.

Cornering lights (light up corners when flipping turn signal) or lights that follow curves while turning?

The lights that come on automatically at 90 degree turns. They’re separate lenses on the our ‘19 E-class, not just the selective pixels.

I don't think the new matrix lights do that.

There is a bulb tucked inside of the inner corner of the light but it stays on when the lights are on.
I will take a closer look tomorrow, but I think this light brightens when turning versus coming on like on older models.

I will verify for sure tomorrow.

The "inner light" that I referred to brightens but is always on.
I did my best to capture it, but it's difficult to tell in my garage.
