Goodbye GLE53

Hey all,
First let me thank you for helping this MERC newb out over the past few months. After driving this beautiful car for a bit, my wife and I decided it's not the right car for us. So we went looking for something different and wound up moving on to S580. The car is beyond beautiful, rides and drives so smooth and quiet. We look forward to years enjoying it.
Thanks again. See ya in the W223 page

Congrats. That's a great move IMO. If I didn't have young kids I'd be in your situation. How did you do on the trade with how many miles? It was basically new right?

They killed me on the trade, but made over 7k in concessions. Overall I did "ok"

At least it was balanced out a bit and you're in the car you really want to drive.

I'm happy. The s580 is unbelievable. I considered a 7 series BMW, but IMO it's butt fugly

Congrats on your choice. So how's your experience with the (1) transmission; and (2) 48V mild hybrid system? I see many people having issue with those things. Just curious about your experience. Thanks.

The GLE shifts fine unless in sport plus. Then it makes the car shutter as if the rear end is going to blow up (exaggerating). I have no issues with 48v. My Ram has a similar system with no issues

It shifts much better in manual mode from experience, there is no room for the transmission/computer to be confused if we tell it when to shift up and down after all. Not saying it doesn't jerk at all but much better. Other than that, forced adaptation and/or stand-still adaptation also improves it, more on that in the other thread.

Appreciate your inputs! Many saying the transmission jerky as well as clunk sound when starting and slow rolling in another thread. Look forward to your inputs. What's the thread that you refer to?

You're most welcome : ) The thread is quite long but talked about stand-still adaptation and forced adaptation: https://mbworld.org/forums/gle-class...on-issues.html

As for clunk, you are talking about this thread right? https://mbworld.org/forums/gle63s-gl...k-pleasek.html

Yes, those two threads are very concerning. So how's your experience? Is it that bad? Is the repair covered by warranty? Thank you!

Yes and yes, the clunk is more difficult to pinpoint but if I recalled correctly, one of the forums members had it fixed, I forgot which page and there was a work order, sorry about that : (

The adaptation has to be specific, stand-still adaptation not just a normal adaptation, it is not difficult to do but takes time and might need a few tries to get it right, you need a dealership that really wants to work with you. Only do the forced adaptation if stand-still adaptation doesn't help.
