Thoughts on 2025 GLE 53 AMG

I have a 2019 GLE 43 AMG coupe and love it. Was thinking about buying the 2025 model but body-wise there is no major differences to me, of course there are differences but not that much that makes me think my car looks old or anything. And depending on how major of a difference we are expecting in 2026, I want to decide and see if I should upgrade to 2025 or wait for the 2026. Of you have the 2025 and/or you have driven the older models what are your thoughts and recommendations?

I test drove a 2025 GLE 450 and was not impressed about the hybrid feature, the car was lacking the AMG feel and honestly, had too many bells and whistles that were distracting me while driving, example, the speed limit flashing sign on the screen as well as the colorful animated looking RPM gauge.

My other questions, which package should I get that has these options?

1) Heated and ventilated seats (does back have heated seats?)
2) Heated steering wheel
3) Driver assistance
4) Wireless charging
5) Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC
6) Active Lane Change Assist
7) Active Speed Limit Assist
8) Active Steering Assist

The thing is my dealer (northern VA) has only one GLE 53 AMG coupe and apparently they are not fully stocked in this area yet.

, like phones. I say don't think about FOMO and get what you like now, especially how MBUSA is absorbing all tariffs for 2025 model year.

No experience with older model, but I love the GLE 53. The handling with the 22" wheels is awesome, especially given the weight. You do realize that the AMG versions are mild hybrids? Not a plug in, so pretty invisible to an owner. You will need to get Pinnacle pkg, Driver Assistance pkg, and the warmth & comfort pkg to get those options. The flashing speed limit alert can be disabled in the menus. It drove me mad until I disabled it. Yes, the back and bottom are heated, ventilated, and massaging with the Pinnacle trim. Mine didn't have warmth & comfort pkg and I didn't realize that the Pinnacle did NOT include heated steering wheel, so make sure you get that! Check out EuroMotorcars in Germantown & Bethesda. That's where I found mine. Better yet, build and search online to see who has what you want.

oh wow! Your car has all the packages under the sun! Great options you have added. How is the guard 360? Do you find it useful?

Very well said, I especially had googled the tariffs this morning and saw that MB is absorbing the cost for 2025. How big of a change are we really expecting in the 2026 anyway? To someone who is not really an expert in GLE coupes, my car looks very similar to the 53s, that makes me hesitant to change it. I wish there was something major making it worthwhile, that's why I wish we knew what the 2926 will be like.

Oh I was actually looking at the car on Euro!otors online and they had the ones with good packages. The one in Chantilly and Tysons had nothing. In as far as I’ve read MY2026 isn’t the second facelift, MY2027 is. I’d assume the 26 will just have minor tweaks.

I think the main changes are really the headlights and taillights, you can see the spyshots in the link in the other post. Other than that, they will probably increase the price on top of the tariffs.

We are also not fully sure if the facelift will come as 2026 model year. Europe might have it for 2026 but there is no guarantee for it to be a 2026 in the usa. Might be a 2027 model year.

Keep in mind, a lot of times North America gets a new model a model year later than Europe. For example W213 was in the Europe as 2016 model year but usa didn't get this until 2017.

Oh you're right, I forgot it would be the 2027 model. If I buy the 25 one now, I won't be able to get the 27 one.

So true, I would just buy the 2025 if I knew the 2026 model exterior has no major upgrades, less bells and whistles, no problem!

Can't wait to hear back regarding the guard 360. I looked up the 2027 model new features and look like they will add plug-in hybrid feature. I don't think I want my MB to have EV option knowing how unreliable MB us with electric stuff.

Honestly, if you like the 2025, buy it. As long as there is no buyer's remorse, test drive one or two with different options and decide.

Plug-in hybrid should have an "e" in the end of the model like GLE 350e
Obviously you mean the GLE 53, are you saying it will get the system like MB's E Performance models? Source?

Yeah, you hear the motor on startup, unlike a PHEV (Plug In) or fully electric. After the disaster I had in a previous car, I don't want a PHEV or full electric. Not sure when this was introduced as I am new to Mercedes.

I will admit that I can live without the heated steering wheel as the microfiber on the steering wheel (AMG Performance steering wheel in Nappa/microfiber) doesn't seem to get as cold as a leather or plastic steering wheel. But I would still want it. The Guard 360 is standard. You'll see a little sticker on the driver's door. You can enable the features in the Mercedes Me App.
