Just had a quick question regarding our brakes. It's time for me to change the pads as I'm getting a horrible squeal every time I brake. The question is, do we need to change our rotors when we change the pads? Someone told me that it's highly recommended since our rotors can get warped easy and since they are drilled, they can't be cut. It's this true?

In general, it is best to also change the rotors. At a minimum they should be turned. Most shops will not turn a vented rotor, and no - they really do not warp "easy".

Hey that's cool I'm a little south of ocala but Marion county either way. I'll have to reach out to Will and talk to him about the job. No my brake lamp hasn't come on but the squealing is horrible when I brake so I'm assuming they need to be changed. I did my rear brakes a few months ago but only did pads and maybe that's why I'm squealing now?

Yep, could be if you did not have the rotors faced. Could have glazed the new pads. Could be a few things.

A couple of things:
No, you don't have to change rotors when you change pads. The rotors need to be measured and checked for runout, but in most cases rotors outlast at least one set of pads.

The perforations in the rotors are not drilled, they're cast in, eliminating the stress riser component, so yes they can be turned, to a specified limit.
I don't think Mercedes rotors are prone to warpage like BMW has been in their past.

Finally, if squealing is your main concern, first try doing a good bedding-in process. Odds are good that that will fix your squeal.

Or just turn up the music or put the vehicle in sport+ so the exhaust sound overpowers the squeal by volume.

Good idea. Windows down at 80 mph achieves the goal as well.

The shop that did my rear pads is who told me that the rotors needed to be changed when the pads are and also stated that the brakes could start squealing if I didn't change them. Maybe mine are due to be changed but I'd much rather turn them VS purchase new ones.

So they aren't drilled rotors? I thought they were this whole time.

When you say bedding-in, what do you mean exactly?
