EUROPEAN DELIVERY: 2010 Mercedes-Benz GLK (Canada)
All prices CAD; Includes MSRP + taxes, dealer fees, and cost of financing over a period of 60 months. Costs/Prices listed below are very accurate.
What do you guys think? Is it really worth it?
*Oh I forgot to mention the prices do include GST (5%) and PST (8%), with a $5,000 down payment. Initially, the numbers you see below are what it would cost to finance the vehicle in Ontario over a period of five years (60 months). Sorry if it seemed a bit unclear at first! Please do correct me if I'm wrong.

You also have to factor in the fact that you have to buy plane ticket and stay in a hotel. You prolly would not go to just pick it up, but also book a vacation.
Also, dealers might give you a better discount for the car on the lot sold in US vs. ED. Some dealers try to talk people out of ED, since they make more on non-ED's.
So pricewise I don't think it matters. You will end spending more with ED. But if you are buying a new car and want a European vacation, ED is the way to go.
How much freight cost, PDI and Canadian import tax, GST did you factor in? Do you know any modification needed for this car to pass Canadian standard?
IMO, the numbers above doesn't justify the ED unless you did all the homework and assess all the risks.
I think you dont know what ED is.
All of this should be covered plus insurance for 14 days in Europe so you can drive around. It's still Canadian speced car. ED is an opportuinity to drive your car in europe before it ships to Canada/US. You are still picking it up at your dealer and dealer will prep it. People who did ED love it. I would do ED if I had more vacation and money to stay in europe for 2 weeks.
Also, I based my numbers off of the Mercedes-Benz Financial website. I hope I'm correct.

If you really want to see numbers before sitting with the dealer, you can use an online finance calculator or even in excel spreadsheet.

If anyone has another dealer that honours the US prices please send me an email.
For reference here is a link to the US website.

So basically yea, the only benefit of doing this is not having to rent car in Germany or wherever you want to drive.
so at 3.9% 45k for 60mo is 826 per month
if you put 10 k down, it's 643 per mo
if you rate is 1.9% then 45k for 60 months is 786.
If you have excel it's very easy to figure out you monthly payment
=pmt(int/12,nper,amt) where
int=apr(1.9% etc,)
nper= number of month
amt=loan amount
loan amout=price + fees + taxes - downpayment
if you are paying fees and taxes upfront don't included them above.
Then you can multiply you monthly payment by number of month and see how much you are really paying for the car.
Then if you subtract Price of the car and add back downpayment you'll see how much you are paying in interest.

I think I read elsewhere that with other manufacturers, you can negotiate a price between ED "list price" and ED "invoice". If so, that would tip the balance on the cost/benefit for me.

Appearence Package
Price was around $41,500. I didn't think that it was to bad of a deal.
Also, please have a look at the link below to know about the program itself and different types of packages are available.
I was going to do EDP for Canada, and the 'menu' did not exist as to what you guys in the USA get. Also, for us it was more expensive due to no insurance coverage included. Wow.

Enjoy!
