To: TORONTO GLK owners.
I got a quote from a dealer with navigation and rear-camera. This car comes to $44,050 by MSRP, and almost $54,000 total. The guy says he can only give me $1,000 cash rebate, so that comes to about $53,000 out the door. (BTW, this is the dealer near Kennedy and HWY-7)
So, what kind of deals were you guys able to get? I really don't believe that $1,000 off is the only deal they can offer, I'm not impressed.

I secured 2k off + the $180 floor mats just last week...there are deals to be had, you just need to be patient and firm with your offer! Shop around, I did...

The Best of Mercedes & AMG
So far these are the dealers I found near me: Thornhill (Steeles/Yonge), Markham (Kenneth/HWY-7), Newmarket (Mulock/Yonge),
So in additional to that, there's the Maple one you said, and also the BMW Autohaus who also sells MB. Since I already went to the Markham one, I got 4 more trips to make!
P.S. Any other dealers in this area?

I know that Oakville is independent, but they only offered us $1k off. We went through a broker who sourced the GLK from Windsor. Very happy with the deal and zero haggling/hassles. And they dropped it off in our driveway in Oakville!

Not fair to give away my pricing details, but will say the discount he gave me on a black GLK350 with, with sunroof and sport package, Command, Zenon lamps, and tow hitch after a good battle and a 10 year old trade-in way surpassed anything I have read on this forum by several G-notes. Maybe they had a tough month, maybe we negotiated well, but when the smoke cleared, we were very pleased and I think they made a little profit too.
Tell him the UK Kid recommended you.
Andrew is a good guy. Barrie is an independent MB, so they have more leeway on price.
Good luck!

In Jan/Feb/March I got two other members the same discount I got on my GLK, expect for one 500 promo which the dealer offered had expired wasn't available to the gentleman who ordered in March. The gentleman still proceeded and made the purchase since it was the best he could find.

Again, congrats on your purchase, I agree with Baby_G, that would be very nice that you could be open and share the discount info, I am ready to pull the trigger, your information would be much appreciated.

MB Oakville (independent dealer as well) is where I purchased my car. I can PM you the salesperson info if you like? Let me know, and best of luck with your purchase.

Would have responded sooner, but had all sorts of connection difficulties. Sure, if my numbers will help you then I'll share. But you may need to compare carefully as it's a bit apples to oranges.
Keep in mind, I gave the dealer a figure upfront and told him $51k + Trade-In and ALL-IN for any other charges. I would not accept any additional costs after the deal was signed, not even the $20 License registration. I just did not want to quibble around with all the taxes and other sundry charges, like AC tax, and Fuel Tax.
My request included the Premium and Sport Pkg, Trailer hitch, Running boards and Keyless Go. (Trade in was a 2000 Suzuki Grand Vitara Manual 5 speed 116,000kms, OK condition, Broken A/C, exhaust problems and Emissions test due in 1 month).
MB threw a 6 week wait at me, then offered at a similar GLK from the lot. The vehicle closest to mine in the colour I wanted, included most of my request but with the following also: Bi-xenons, Command package, Multimedia, but no Keyless (thats $3175 extra minus Keyless $975).
Bottom line: I wrote my final cheque for $53,600 ALL-IN, with my trade in marked at $1800, ($1200 less than I felt it was worth privately, but it was just numbers at that point) and the sales rep simply backfilled the final invoice/quote after my cheque.
So although I spent $2600 more that I originally planned, I got the Nav, Multi-media and Bi-xe's that I didn’t need. It also included the Silent Sentinel etchings ($150), Tire and Rim protection ($295), all taxes, admin fees, F&PDI, even that daft OMVIC fee ($5) plus anything I missed including here as it was all in.
One thing to note, I did walk away from the table at $52,500 but they chased me, squeezed out another $1100 and we sealed the deal.
All in all, my discount not including trade in was approx $4600. Also they tried to pressure me into buying faster so I could take advantage of the Month end bulking, but it felt like a cheesy ploy and so I just took my time and dealt on my own terms. Its an old concept that I feel dealers try to use to add pressure, but really means little to them these days. The Consumer will often gain more ground when not pressured. And as I always held tight to my "All-In" offer, I was never too confused or frustrated during the negotiations.
Now after seeing the recent Wholesale numbers just posted recently (wish I saw those in May as they show a 14% mark-up and I was under the impression we were negotiating against a 9% mark-up), maybe I miss-interpreted the way others were pointing out their discounts. If so, I apologize for any confusion, but when I said $4k+ discount, I was basing it on the Retails not Wholesales. By those numbers, it looks like my car with those options, should have cost approx $60k Retail, so I hope I did ok at an overall $55,396. I'm sure you will let me know.
Regardless, I wanted to encourage newbies to move patiently and hold out for more if they can afford the time. I hope this helps anyone who's about to buy. Feel free to comment, critique or rake me over the coals if I confused anyone.

If you were buying a N. American with a wobbly warranty, then I think you could offer an amazingly low price. But the very fact that you are in an MB shop when you could be buying a GM-mobile tells MB right off the bat, you have money to burn. Otherwise even MB will tell you to go away.
Regardless, I am sure some will fair better and others yet worse. Your statement was a bit to brief. Are you going to let us in on something that we should know about?
