What should Temperature gauge be ?
Finally pick up my GLK after 3 months wait.
I was driving home from dealership and noticed my Engine temp gauge was constant at 84 degrees Celsius (Canadian model).
Does this sound right ?

Coolant Temp
Check out my cluster photo in this thread...

84C for the coolant temp looks about right...I questioned the temp reading when I first drove my GLK too.

Engine temp
I just bought a GLK 350 as well and observed mid 80's engine temp(well north of mid-point)... you guys noticed that that is the usual range. ...good to hear. However, every other car have driven shows engine temp guage at mid-point of the range under normal operating conditions. Any observations/expert comments?

Every Benz I have owned except for my diesel has run at that temp.
I suppose they could have arranged for the normal pointer position to be centered, but then the numbers on the gage face would have been in an odd place relative to the center point if the temp readings were to be correct.
The other alternative would be to opt for the more American style of a simple H and C at the extreme ends of the gage since most Americans wouldn't know how to interpret the numbers anyway.
I once had a customer bring a car back on a hook with a smoking and seized engine. I asked her if there had been any warning lights on before it seized. She said there had been an itty bitty red light on for the past few days that said OIL but it was just a small light so she didn't think it was very important.
