How to Disable DRL's

I know that our neighbouring U.S. members can disable the DRL through the instrument cluster?

Has anyone in Canada being able to do so?
I would rather have the fogs come on as DRLs than the Bi-Xenons.
Any help would be great....

The only other way I can think of is manually turning them off, if this works on Canadian model. Turn the switch to parking light position, this turns the xenons off and you can turn fogs on. Again this is on US model, might not work for you.

thanks NYCGLK.
I will try it and see.
But I am guessing that you folks in the US have an option thru the instrument cluster stating Daytime Lights Off?
The only reason I am asking about this is for an upcoming project.

If you are in canada, forget about it. I've been trying to disable the DRL for 3 weeks now. Apparently you need access to a SAM module and the MB system has to give you a code back or something to that effect. If you get it done, let me know, i've been wanting to disable DRL since i got the truck!

thanks for the tip demolisher.
The SAM module is no problem. However, the code thing seems it is top secret. I will get this information from my few contacts and keep posted on this thread...

Although MB says that the Bi's are supposed to be the DRLs I disagree. They should not be. I turned them off. DRLs are not the head lights!

MKenM, thanks!
I presume you must in the U.S.?
It seems like it is a programming feature
of the main computer module as it is disabled
from the instrument cluster?

DRL is a law in Canada, you may get stop by the cop with the ticket until you make a trip to police station to show you fixed that.

you are going to need a scan tool that can perform control unit coding in order to turn them off.

apparently its not that easy anymore, you have to access a SAM module, then bypass some mercedes control in order to you to gain access to it. I've had no luck with it...and i was quoted $300 to disable the DRL.

thanks for the update guys.
Hopefully, my MB mechanic will have
a solution on the weekend. If not, then
by next the latest. I can't wait for the
update. Canadian law only states there
needs to be some 'sort of DRL', it's not
specific?
