Leather/Obsidian Advantages

hey mb fans! about to purchase a GLK this week. Questions--one, i was disappointed to find that it's tough to find leather seating in this model (I currently own a 96 SL 500.) Other than the smell of leather, which I love, is there a big difference in the leather seating, visually?

Also, can anyone describe the difference between the obsidian black and the standard black?

Thanks!

why not check out dealer's inventory? It's better to see/feel once than to hear/read 100 times (or whatever the saying is)

P.S. I have MB-Tex and like the easy maintenance with never aging look

RE Leather GLK

I have...Im dealing with SoCal...from what I've been told, I will need to order it which will take 3 - 4 months, as they "do not exist" with leather....

Unless your planning on keeping it clean 24/7...skip the Obsidian black. When the Obsidian is dirty it looks the same as the standard black...except you paid $720 bucks more for it. I would suggest staying away from the standard black, white and red as well, the standard colors swirl when the wind blows the wrong direction. If your dead set on black though, you have no other choice in the GLK.

The OB is far superior to std black...... that nano-clear over the top of the OB metallic can't be beat!

I don't know why people continue to believe this.

The nano-clear is on *EVERY* Mercedes finish. It is not related to the base coat, every Mercedes today has the nano-clear.

However, I have heard some *genius* dealers saying the same thing.

We all know this..... who said it wasn't? Read my post again. It's not that the Nano clear makes it better, it's the combo of the metallic + the nano that does, especially on nice low sun days and the paint is sparkling like a gem!!

Well, it's probably more to do with the fact that Metallic paints do look magical under the right light when clean. I agree. I don't know how much the nano clear is mixing in with that besides being less scuffed up than a regular clear.

However, I agree, in the right light and day, the OB will be worth it. Sadly, it's hard to find when you're not ordering, so my SLK is regular black.
