Upgrading the standard halogen bulbs

I was at Auto Barn and the guy there told me I can make my headlights much brighter by replacing the standard existing bulbs. Is it worth the effort? If it is, How do you access the back of the headlight assembly? Has anybody done this? Did you notice a difference? I have the basic lights now... Thanks

I replaced all four with Hella Xenon bulbs. It was not too difficult but it was tedious. The low beams (I think) were a real bear to work with. High beams were pretty easy. Low beams were replaced with 55 watts and high beams with 100 watt bulbs. There was a big difference between stock and the Hellas. Now I have BRIGHT lights.

I found an auto place near me that wants to put PIAA bulbs in the headlights (55 watts) only for $79 for the two. He guaranteed me I will see a difference. I think I'm going to have them do it.

PIAA bulbs are one of the best...I used to use them in my old car before I did an HID retrofit. I would recommend you find out the type of bulbs you need and then look on ebay or amazon for them. It will save you money.

Thank you.. Since they are also installing them I'm not looking to save on this one. IMO-The drivers side headlight is difficult to get to.

The replacement H-7 PIAA bulbs were put in today.. They are considerably brighter and worth the $. I did not replace the brights , just the headlights. They do have a slightly blueish tint but the light is not yellowish its more white. Happy I did it.....

Awesome, glad you like them. Just keep in mind that they burn out a lot quicker than regular bulbs...but it's worth it

How much do those PIAA lights usually run for?

We considered the lighting package at length before deciding that at almost $1,000 we would pass on it. We had it on our ML, and really liked it, in particular the brightness and cornering lights.

When we chose not to get it on the GLK, I thought I would change the bulbs as F18BEN and Burl have done. Looks like I will have to do it now.
