MB Tex and car seat imprints

So I was testing out the fit of our car seat, and even though I only had it installed for 10 minutes or so, a week later I can still see indents in the seat. FWIW I'm using the center of the backseat with the seatbelt.

Anyone using this car with car seats? Any thoughts or experiences? My Audi has leather and it "released" the car seat dents after a few days. Not like there's anything we can do about it, if it screws up the seats then it screws up the seats, but the OCD in me would like to have a solution.

I'm interested in this too. I've had a lot of problems with MB-Tex ripping on me in the past (specifically at the thigh bolster and the seams running across the seat bottom) and I would like to preserve them this time around.

Although I would not have wanted a seat cover in the C class, the more "utility" minded GLK might not look so bad with one (not that the current seats are anything special).

The one important part is that the seat covers do not interfere with any of the side airbags.

How about a folded towel under the car seat to help distribute the pressure?

I use this on my MBs

http://www.toysrus.ca/product/index....ductId=2685793

It is not soft like other car seat protectors. No deep marks on the seat and back rest after a 3 year old toodler seats on it.

You can get this on black

I use this too!
Bonus besides imprint protection is that it keep crumbs & food bits off the seat & easy to dump out instead of vacuuming. has any1 try to vacuum MBTex...that stuff grabs onto dirt & doesn't let go!

I'm not sure if this helps but check it out https://mbworld.org/forums/glk-class...il-lights.html

I orderd MB-Tex (black) but then realized I'm not a big fan because its not always perfectly clean I can see it turn grey at times, so I decided to cover it with the Cover Kings. No problems till now and the material is waterproof too.

I am using the same one on my cars.
Should use this on leathers/MB Tex seats.

I originally ordered seat protectors for both out cars (Diono). But after doing some research and talking to certified car-seat installers, anything you put between the seat and the car seat reduces it's effefctiveness in a crash. They would never do it. Anything padded reduces how tight you can anchor that car seat. You can use a "very thin" towel at most to protect against spills. I've been in two serious car wrecks in my life (the last time in our C300 which was a total loss) so I'm pretty much a grumpy old man with this kind of stuff.

I was curious if someone knew if you could "rub" out indents in MB Tex - maybe a hair dryer on low would soften it up and expand it...etc?

With leather you need to make sure it's well conditioned and it'll be fine. Treat it twice a year.

Thanks for the replies! Baby should be landing any week now....

You should be fine using a car seat protector. Just imagine if those things are not safe to use imagine the lawsuits those companies have now. Car seats becomes unsafe because of improper installation not the thing protecting the seat itself. The idea is to make sure that the car seat is not moving no more than 1" sideways. The best way to achieve this is to put some weight on the car seat (pushing down....ask the wife or someone else to do the pushing) and use the anchor and tighten it up (same thing if using the seatbeats as the anchors just make sure to "lock" it first). If you do it properly the car seat won't move. Also make sure the seat harness is secured properly on your baby as the anchors will only hold down the car seat and the harness will hold down your baby so a tight and proper securement of the harness is also a must no matter how secure your car seat on your car. It usually takes me 3-5 minutes in placing my kid in the seat as I have been on a lot of accidents as well and the fear of my kid being injured not to mention being ejected from the seat is something I always fear off. So better practice and practice before that little sucker comes out.

My wife folded down the back seat on the GLK and left it like that for a week or so and when I reclined it back the seat belt buckle marked the Mb-text but after a week or so the mark dissapeared so if you see some indentations on the seats leave it for a few days and it will heal itself.

Wow, I didn't realize how far off topic I was. I thought this was a discussion about car seat covers, but it appears to be a thread about baby seats and car seats meant to protect your seat from babies!
