2014 GLK Block heater connection...
As was requested here are a couple of photos showing the external connection for the block heater. The cord is approx 10' long, this works well we got to try it out on our drive to the frozen north...lol...
Not sure why the pictures rotate on their own but you get the idea...

This is located just under the passenger side LED Running light. It's hard to see in the picture but that is the whole idea i didn't really want to see it...
There is the black plastic inlet just below the light so you don't really even notice it

Thanks! Must be a Canadian thing, or at least it's not on mine with the AMG package. I don't need it anyway but it wouldn't be a bad idea for the occasional forays to sub freezing weather!

It could be a Canadian thing, I know that the block heater is installed as standard in the GLK 250 (not advertised) but when you order just tick the box that says block heater and the cord comes ready to install...

Yes the cord comes with the car (If you tick the block heater box when ordering) and the service dept installed it after the car arrived. Hope that answers your question

My car was purchased without a cord. All GLK250's (at least here in Canada) are equipped with the block heater. I was going to buy and install the cord myself but it looks like I will have to do some drilling under the LED light. Correct?

From what I could see looking at a GLK the other day, it is much like the one we had on our smart CDI. You just have to open a little door in the plastic grille and then attach the cord. No installation required.

The block heater is pre-installed, but the cord going to the bumper and the placement of the plug are not installed until the car arrives (I saw the cord that runs to the bumper in a bag when we first saw the car prior to setup/delivery) After they are finished with installation of the cord to the block heater you will only have the connecting cord to your power plug...

My GLK 250 BT came in with a block heater & Cord all ready to go. The dealer showed me it under the hood all winded up. All I needed is to take it out & plug it in when needed..... and I am in Calgary so time to plug in this week with dipping tempratures.

So no external plug connection?? and they leave the the cord coiled under the hood... that doesn't sound like the one I got... do you have any pictures?

I can take a picture when I get home tonight...but yes its all coiled under the hood with a plug attached to the cord. So its all ready to go.The Cord length seems to be reasonable as well ( Appx 5 to 6 Feet I guess).

Regret the delay.We had a blizzard in calgary yesterday...stil digging out 4 feet of snow.Please find attach the picture of Block Heater Cord which came in with my GLK & I tested it last night & workd well.

I had a look at epc and have posted the part number for BH below. Not sure if you would need different hose, but those are below too.
To be accurate, this is not a block heater. It is an in-line coolant heater. But it should do a good job.
I have the cord for the block heater on order, but I could not find it on EPC. Eventually I should know the part number!

Does anyone have experience adding a block heater to US spec 250? Any estimate of cost? We've got a little cabin in the Rockies, no garage, and it can be -20 F on winter nights. Would be nice to plug in for such occasions.

Is it a block heater or a circulating heater? Block heater usually goes into a freeze plug in the block. Circulating heaters can be installed in almost all cars as they go into one of the radiator hoses. Many of the circulators have pumps built in which will keep heater warmbecause the coolant becomes warm enough to partially open the thermostat.
