2010 GLK350 Power Steering Malfunction
Hello
Just started seeing a new message on my 2010 GLK350 since yesterday .
"Power Steering Malfunction - See Operator's Manual"
&
"BRAKE - EBR, ABS and ESP Inoperative - See operator's manual"
Has anyone experienced this ?
Have been having several electronic issues with my GLK 350 since the past month & spent around 3K
- replaced steering lock module,
- From SAM module
- New battery
Any help or advise would be great.
Thanks
Rad

Out Of Control!!
You did follow the instructions and -------"See operator' manual"----what did the manual recommend!!
Those systems are complicated and interconnected and the vehicle is seven years old---see and indy with equal to factory diagnostics who can quickly define the fault---else?????

Just had the exact same pair of warnings occur on my 2010 GLK 350 4 Matic - 170K miles. Power steering operates ok, No physical symptoms other than two warning lights. PS fluid normal. No leaks of any kind. Thoughts?
I suspect it may just be a fuse. Will post if that is infact true.

Inspected all fuses and completed wheel angle reset (the "lock to lock" procedure) and did not resolve. Power steering is fine, no noises or unusual indications from power steering pump or reservoir. Very strange. Might be ESP Control Module which would be a pricey repair (~$2500).... more info as I have it!

I have the same problem now on my 2010 GLK 350. Normal operation, but warning lights for power steering failure and brake (ABS) failure come on from time to time. 55,000 miles on the vehicle and dealer says replacement will be about $3,000 for both modules. Dealer can't answer question as to why both modules would fail at the same time.

Had the same problem, only two warning lights, but car was ok. This is related to geometry of the car, just verify your direction, normaly will go off directly after this. There are two sensors that are misaligned and that's why we get thid error. Not to worry about, just check your direction.

Its a 2010 model with 165K.. Dealership recommends not to drive and they are doing a diagnostic. ITs getting an expensive car to maintain. Just got the tie rod replaced too. The problem with an integrated circuit and parts is that if one part malfunctions, it could affect connected ones too.

2015 glk 350
power steering malfunction can't turn wheel.
Dealer in fla. could not figure what was wrong wanted $7200.00 to replace steering colum, rack and tie rods + anything that could raise the bill. I had it hauled back to Ms. Drives great for a couple weeks then when I get home next morning malfunction light may be on and steering too hard to drive but then 10minutes later will start and drive like a new car. WILL NEVER QUIT WORKING WHILE DRIVING just after you park it. Has to be electrical but I can't find it. Forgot to mention it is a 2015 GLK 350 Model which has electric power steering.

If you have Blind Spot Assist, you likely have radar sensors behind the rear bumper cover. The wiring harness for those sensors corrodes over time, especially if the vehicle is kept outdoors mostly. Moisture will find its way in there and corrode the wiring.
Ours had that wiring and sensors replaced under warranty several years ago, no issue since.

All of that can be triggered by a fault in the ABS sensor - a bad sensor, a broken wire, a broken or corroded reluctor ring. Anti lock brakes, brake force distribution, traction control, speed sensitive steering, and some versions of flat tire warnings are all related to the ability to sense the wheel speeds. But other things in the associated systems can also cause the warning. A scanner can help pinpoint the problem area.

To note this is also during an issue I am trying to fix with a driver side front knock and have replaced the stabilizer bar and now onto the upper Arm replacement before ball joint investigation. On top of that we have very nasty forest fires recently and all of this came up real sudden

You probably already know this, but that’s the ABS control unit. It’s going to need initialization after replacement. I’m not familiar with that Autolink to know whether it can do that.
On a personal note, hope the forest fires get under control quickly. Emergency crews here were furiously working to put out a brush fire only a mile from the Jones Forest and maybe 1000 feet from the wooded area adjacent to our subdivisions. They were successful but it was scary for a few hours. In 2005 fires got out of control about 10 miles away and burned out some housing developments. Don’t want a hurricane or another TS Harvey, but some rain from the tropical thing would be welcome.
