Plasti-Dipped Grille
Took a chance and Plasti-Dipped the silver part of my grille black. In the end it turned out really well. I like the way it makes the chrome pop.
Had some trouble removing the grille, but finally got it off. Those three last tabs were pretty tricky.
Here are some before and after pictures of the GLK 350:

I agree with dzl. It really emphasizes the chrome. I think the black on black on black on black on black thing is getting a little played out, so it's refreshing to see a setup where some a bit of the black highlights the rest of the car. Big fan, and I might steal that idea when my GLK gets in.

I used a screwdriver and loosened up the tabs before pushing down on them to slide the grill inwards and off.
Here is a little diagram I made for the tabs. This is a side view.
The tabs are located on the bottom of the grill and connect it to the front bumper. They are on the bottom left, bottom middle, and bottom right of the grill.
Step 1: Use a flat-head screwdriver and insert it below the tab. Wiggle it up and down to loosen the tab. Mine seemed stuck so this helped.
Remove the screwdriver.
Step 2: Push down on the tab.
Step 3: Push the grill inwards while holding the tab down.
It should pop off of the front bumper.
Repeat for the two remaining tabs. I started on the left one, then the right, and left the middle for last.
I don't have my car at the moment, so this is the best information I can provide.

Thank you for the diagram, LiftOff. Didn't see the bottom clips on mine, so this diagram should be handy. Will try this little project on the weekend

Simply spray the entire grill, wait for it to dry, peel off the tape and the excess plasti-dip you don't want.
It should separate nicely at the edges. Just tear gently and use a knife if it seems like it might not break cleanly.
