I agree with dzl. It really emphasizes the chrome. I think the black on black on black on black on black thing is getting a little played out, so it's refreshing to see a setup where some a bit of the black highlights the rest of the car. Big fan, and I might steal that idea when my GLK gets in.
Looks really nice! especially for the chrome bits. Is the process of removing the grill pretty straight forward?
Yeah, it was pretty easy to remove. Just the last three tabs were a little confusing, but I figured it out in the end.
I used a screwdriver and loosened up the tabs before pushing down on them to slide the grill inwards and off.
Here is a little diagram I made for the tabs. This is a side view.
The tabs are located on the bottom of the grill and connect it to the front bumper. They are on the bottom left, bottom middle, and bottom right of the grill.
Step 1: Use a flat-head screwdriver and insert it below the tab. Wiggle it up and down to loosen the tab. Mine seemed stuck so this helped.
Remove the screwdriver.
Step 2: Push down on the tab.
Step 3: Push the grill inwards while holding the tab down.
It should pop off of the front bumper.
Repeat for the two remaining tabs. I started on the left one, then the right, and left the middle for last.
I don't have my car at the moment, so this is the best information I can provide.
did you tape the chrome or just spray over all the grill the peel off the chrome part?
Thanks and nice job!!
I put a strip off painters tape across the middle of each of the chrome sections to make peeling a bit easier.
Simply spray the entire grill, wait for it to dry, peel off the tape and the excess plasti-dip you don't want.
It should separate nicely at the edges. Just tear gently and use a knife if it seems like it might not break cleanly.
