Hi all, I just bought a used GLK250 bluetec. It has the I4 diesel engine. I do all my own maintenance and troubleshooting and wondering if anyone can give me recommendations on what diagnostic tools to buy? According to mercedes medic, there area couple of options out there but wanted to consult the experts. Thanks.

There's a thread on that somewhere in this forum. I've seen it. Best of luck to you.
I figured as much. I just can't find any thread discussing it. If someone can throw down a linky-poo I'd really appreciate it.

What is the major difference between the iCarsoft and a star scan tool? Based on the reviews, it appears that this is just an OBDII scanner. Does it do anything above and beyond just scanning for codes? Originally Posted by B737

i dont believe generic devices will pull real time information such as transmission fluid temperature which is very important during transmission fluid service.
and regarding your comparison to the star scan tool, do you mean the one the dealership uses? I think they are about 5 grand.

Which scan tool will measure things like transmission temp? I do all my own work and come from the land of VW VCDS.Originally Posted by B737

Excellent, thanks for the advice. I've been a VW TDI owner for quite a while and could to just about everything I could ever need with the VCDS. Good to know that there's something affordable out there that will do the same. Thanks again. Originally Posted by B737
