How do I check oil pressure regularly without installing a gauge with an oil line to it? Is one hidden in Engineering Menu?
Can a scanner Obd 11 like Carly work ? Kinda dumb MB gives us dumb folk zero option?
What about the issue on a recent thread where MB gives us possibly Zero pressure on cold startup that can be fixed to stop oil Starvation Noise ???
I think it’s a major issue
Idiot lights no gauges , no transmission dipstick, 9000 -10000? Mile oil change , no real volt meter gauge on dash that averages properly (unlike the hidden one in Engineering Menu) DUMB !!!!

A MB-specific scan tool should give you the option. Or, you could use an app-based scanner like Torque (or the better, though not free Torque Pro) app, which works for a 'droid phone (others are available for Apple phones, though of course they cost more). ;-) That gives you the ability to drill down to a lot of information that's available through the OBD port, including oil pressure (and temperatures and vacuum, voltage, and a host of other info). I've used that to set up a "road trip dashboard" giving me a lot more info than the dash does, though now I've moved to a cheap stand-alone "heads up display" that gives me GPS speed, RPM (redundant) altitude, voltage, and coolant temperature (not sure if it has a mode that shows oil pressure or not - it's got a lot of options though, and cost about $30).

I don’t think there is an oil pressure gauge at all. I was informed of that while learning about how to service MBs in the W210/211 days.
What’s torque? An app with an OBD? I’ve heard a lot about Carly , but don’t know anything . Will Torque do it free ?

I asked the Scangauge folks if there was a way to read oil pressure and never got an answer. I take that as a "no".
I read the sensor is near the filter , and a analog gauge can be fitted , the scanner /app seems like the easiest way to go,
I ordered the Torque Obd for about 17$ on Amazon. For 17$ is worth trying
I'm a huge fan of the Torque (and Torque Pro) applications. I went straight to Torque Pro, because it was inexpensive ($5) and added a lot of features. I'll bet the free version will do oil pressure.
I don't have access to my photo of my own dashboard, but found a website (loaded with ads, sorry) that seems to be a good resource for the kind of things you can do for around $20 (the kind of data only F1 had not that long ago). I really liked having that ability to monitor a lot of "interesting things" on a road trip.

Last time I did this it was buried in a long communication with a lot of other stuff. I asked again this AM and got the following response:Originally Posted by John CC

Hello John C.
Unfortunately, we do not have oil pressure available for your 2014 Mercedes GLK 250. An actual oil pressure reading is rarely reported through the ECU as most manufacturers only install a switch that reports when the pressure is low or high.Regards,

I got the scanner but it won’t connect on my 2013, I have an email out to Torque but who knows on a response. Did you have any trouble connecting it? I get a red-blue light and iPhone won’t connect to it on Bluetooth, Bluetooth sees it but nothing happens . What year is your Glk? Did it hook up easily ? Thanks .
The hookup is easy with a droid, but it's always more "interesting" with an iPhone. The trick is getting the Bluetooth OBD dongle to talk to the phone. Make sure the dongle is compatible with your phone, and follow the directions for pairing.
My GLK is a 2011, but the vehicle shouldn't be an issue if it's got a working OBD port.

Ok thanks , I only saw one option on Amazon no iPhone - android option . But now I’ll check, ok I checked , it’s universal , I have a email to tech support .
About 10 emails to tech support and zero response . I ordered another plug in from Amazon , I have a feeling I will be returning everything! A waste of time .
Hey Habby , I got a new unit working, have you tried to get Oil Pressure ? It does not come up in the long list . It’s advertised as supporting it but I can not see it . I need to see cold pressure . Thanks

My take from what ScanGauge had to say is there's no oil pressure reported to the ECM, only "yes" or "no". The ap may support it, but if the ECM isn't reporting it then it won't be there.

I've never used a Torque or Torque Pro, but I was bored and did a simple search ... this might be helpful - or maybe not ..
Keep in mind, the consensus is that you will NOT find "oil pressure" in the standard list of choices - you will have to add it using a custom added PID choice:
quote:
To access oil pressure data on a GLK 350 using Torque Pro, you need to select the "PID: Engine Oil Pressure" option from the available parameters within the vehicle's OBD-II data stream; typically, this will be listed as "PID 0x0A" or a similar identifier depending on your specific vehicle and Torque Pro configuration.
Key points to remember:
Accessing the data:
Once you've selected your vehicle make and model in Torque Pro, navigate to the "Sensors" or "Dashboard" section, and then search for the "Engine Oil Pressure" parameter.
Units:
The oil pressure will usually be displayed in pounds per square inch (PSI), but ensure to check your Torque Pro settings to verify the correct unit of measurement.
Normal oil pressure range:
For a GLK 350, a typical normal oil pressure range is between 20-60 PSI at idle and should increase with engine RPM.

I purchased Torque plug in. But it told me to instal Car Scanner app., why ? Tech support is non existent. I did not see oil pressure anywhere but oil temp yes .
Oil pressure must be sent to the main computer or how can MB diagnose properly. Maybe a poor featured scanner ! With no tech support.

It sounds like the manufacturer of the OBD dongle you bought wants you to install a different app. No idea what the capabilities of the "Car Scanner app" are... Hopefully the one you bought is compatible with Torque. If so, you need to connect the Torque app to your new dongle and go from there.
Yes I think so, trying to install it got me a bit nervous when nothing works and it does not go as expected

I have the free (android) Torque ap and a cheap ELM327 OBD adapter and they seem to work well together. Never tried to add a PID, though...
habby Oh yes , I used to be that teenager about 50 years ago , I think i left my brains in that semi truck of empty booze bottles .
John I downloaded the same app, I am confused how that dongle works with Car Scanner and Torque . I’m talking with tech support today , my negative Amazon review finally got a response! Not 10 emails ! And so far they say it’s not their email even though I got it off the app. A bit confusing , I asked how to check Oil Pressure so I’ll post back thanks guys 😆👍🏻
