Rear seat headrest

I got my GLS 450 delivered last week and i like it. I have few issue, and one of the key issue is that rear seat headrest is annoying especially kids. I have 8 and 9 year old kids, There are only two options with rear seat headrest, all over Up and all over down. With the headrest moved all the way up, it just hitting right on to top of their head. If put that headrest all the way down it kind of bothers their neck? I'm sure people gone through this, any fix?

no fix. The only fix is removing it at the dealer. Do a search in the GL forum. It's been discussed heavily...

Yes, I was reading about this in GL forums, but i seen people mentioning its been fixed in GLS.

My kids wants to go in my other vehicle 50K Acura vs 85k GLS! They don't like sitting in GLS for long. I'm going to check with dealer to see if any other options.

Now i have to wait for my kids to grow to get this resolved !

Do the pin mod, assuming that your issue is the bottom of fully extended headrest pushes little heads forward and that new cars are the same as before the refresh.

If you don't have GLS EZ Entry - 2nd row headrests are user removable - 3rd row headrests are user removeable

If you have GLS EZ Entry - then 2nd row headrests "can" be dealer removable - 3rd row headrests are user removable.

The GLS 2nd row headrest already has "some" flex - I am not certain the "pin fix" works on GLS or not.

Thank you. I talked to my dealer yesterday about 2 issue that i notice and they are checking with the service people.

1. 2nd row headrest problem.
2. 2nd row seat (back side) not coming back after getting after z-entry. I have to slam the seat hard to get this back.
3. I also having problem with Bluetooth (it works fine one day), the phone is connected but no songs from itunes and keep getting message 'call ended'? Not sure this is IOS or Car issue.

Check to ensure your phone is connecting via BT when this occurs. I had the same problem and determined this was the cause.

Anyone have any feedback on the 2nd row headrest for the 2016 GLS?
Did you remove it yourself, or use them but pull up/down all the time?

When pulled down, they are quite a hump behind the neck/upper back and you can't really sit comfortably.
Not sure if we should have them removed at dealer before delivery.

The factory rear headrests are still uncomfortable for kids. There are 2 pins on the GLS inside of each headrest now (instead of 1 on the GL).

I have the 2017 GLS and just tried to fix the head rest. Now it seems that the head rests are sewn so you can not remove the cover. Can anyone confirm this?

The 2017 GLS does not have the headrest problem. The headrest has a spring that allows it to adjust back out of the way.

Perhaps, on a non-easy entry models. The easy entry models have the exact same problem as before.

Just follow these directions - https://mbworld.org/forums/gl-class-...drest-fix.html

There are 2 pins on each headrest instead of 1.

Does your GLS Easy Entry model have the headrest with the spring action? Are you saying this spring action does not solve the problem for you?

Yes, they are spring loaded. However, the headrests either in up or down positions are still uncomfortable for kids. Removing the pins allows the headrests to go farther back, making them flash with the back seat. The disadvantage is that you have to pull them slightly so they can go down before using the Easy Entry.

Another suggestion - have the dealer remove the "c-clips" which allows them to pull the headrests ...

Headrests prevent whiplash. Modify, rather than remove, where possible. Removal leads to possible use with someone taller than 4 feet whose head may need the protection. What if you get rear ended during such a ride?
Removal only if in the way of a child seat with its own head support that you secure in place, IMHO.

I doubt we'll see the current headrest make it into the upcoming X167. Far too many complaints about it. Speaking of the X167, have any mules been spotted yet?
