Thought I would update this thread. My new to me 2019 gls 450 got this grille upgrade. I looked all over and I couldn’t find anything on the proper removal of the grille. In terms of grille fitment it is great looks fantastic. I love the look. Looks like the 2020 gls 63s grille. Not trying to pose I also own an AMG. I really just liked the grille and hated the stock one. The only thing is the very end clip broke on the grille on install. Probably my fault however it is very solid and did nothing for fitment. So the answer for the x166 gls you don’t have to remove the bumper to remove and install a new grille. You pop off the upper trim in engine bay. Remove the two pop rivits holding the grill with a screw driver. Remove the two end 10mm bolts holding upper bumper near head lights. You need to work your way around the grille pushing down on the visible bumper tabs while keeping inward pressure on the grille as you work your way around. You need to separate the upper grill from the plastic black backer that’s blocking the removal of the End grill tabs. Separate with your fingers and push the bumper tab and grille tabs on each side out. Then pull out and your done. Reverse order for reinstall. The star hard twist left pull out. Reverse to install in new grill. The 360 camera on mine is in the bumper. However the grille has an easy spot to install. It’s a non issue. Also I plan on wrapping all the chrome gloss black this was the first step.
