We just bought a lightly used GLS450 to add to our fleet. It has the HK Logic 7 stereo system and for some reason we are not able to play music from a USB drive. The drive works in our 2014 SL550, 2016 GL450, and 2021 E63s.There are two ports in the center console and we've tried them both with no success. Is there something different in the 2019 GLS system that I'm missing?
Thanks for the response When the drive is plugged in the system recognizes you're trying to connect someting, but doesn't play the music. For some reason it doesn't seem to be able to read the data. The same thumb drive works in our three other MB's without issue. I guess I need to take in and have it checked. In the meantime I've downloaded a bunch of CD's so I have something to listen to.
It would appear there is a problem with the USB port. None of the suggestions or following the manual insructions gets music to play. Keep getting the "no device connected" message on the screen. I will get it in for someone to look at it and see if it can be figured out.

Have you tried multiple USB cables? They can be flaky. And what about the female cable port on your iphone? It is filled with pocket fuzz? I have experienced these things in the past - bad cable and pocket fuzzed cable port.

I haven't used cables. Just plugging a flash drive into the port. When we have used my wife's android phone to play music, it is through Bluetooth and the system recognizes it and plays off that without problem. I don't carry a smart phone so the flash drive is what I use for music. In our three other MB's and it works without issue. The usb ports appear to be clean, but I will give them a shine just in case.

concur. It is either the port or sometimes a defective cable. Try the other port (ours has a couple I think). Try an ipohone or a different device. Flash drives can be flaky as well with the port.
Both ports fail to recognize a flash drive when installed following directions from the manual. Will take it in to have it looked at and see if they can figure it out.

@Sunbeltgolfer11 Have you tried with a smart phone? I know you said you don't have one. What about a friend, spouse, etc.? Do you think your flash drives could be the problem?
Yes, my wife has an android and it plays fine via Bluetooth. The only thing that doesn't work are my usb drives that all "my" music is loaded on. Thought about getting a smart phone, then quickly thought better of it. Just can't get into the 20th Century, let alone the 21st.

@Sunbeltgolfer11 Have you tried your wife's Android via the USB cable? You need to try someone's smartphone with a cable plugged into the USB ports in the center console storage bin. Not via bluetooth.
It's quite likely your 1980s USB sticks are the problem.
No, I haven't done that. Just seems strange that the usb works in our three other MB's. I will take the cable out of my E63 and see if it works with that.

Connected the wife's phone to the usb port with a cable yesterday. Same results. Screen says device not connected. Tried both ports and got the same message.
