Rear View Mirror Dimming

I have a 2020 GLS580 and the rear view mirror is always dimmed so that it's hard to see. Is there a way to reset the sensor?

I'm having the same problem. If anyone has a solution, I'd also appreciate it.

Check the back of the inside mirror. Did somebody (dealer?) put a sticker over the light sensor?

Just a wild guess. I was thinking that the mirror dimming would occur only when headlights were on (like my old Lexus LS), and wanted the mirror to just dim when lights went on. On the Lexus, I put black tape over the sensor, and it worked as I desired. I found that the MB mirrors were constantly dimmed if I blocked that sensor, whether the lights were on or not.

Thanks, I'm thinking that this is just an idiosyncrasy of the mirror but will check the mirror again. I had a Lexus too, but the mirror dimmed as it should. This might be something I just need to get used to, but I'll give your suggestion a try.

I checked the mirror and I don't see anything covering the sensor. The mirror is still too fun making it hard to see through the he rear view b

I dropped the car at the dealership and they had it for a week. They say everything is working fine but I still have the same problem. The rear view mirror dims all the time.

Anyone else having the same problem or have a solution?

This is the language in the owner's manual. Dimming is completely automatic, so there is nothing you can do to change it. However, there are 3 ways to over-ride it, see below. If the auto dimming does not turn off when the engine is off, the transmission is in reverse, or the interior lights are on, there is definitely something wrong.

The inside rearview mirror and the outside mirror
on the driver's side will automatically go into
anti-glare mode if light from a headlamp hits the
sensor on the inside rearview mirror.

System limits
The system will not go into anti-glare mode if:
R The engine is switched off.
R Reverse gear is engaged.
R The interior lighting is switched on.
