Winter Wheels/Tires Setup for my GLS 580 Complete! Now Need a Set of Spacers!
Hi Everyone,
Like many of you, I have the 23" wheels with the summer performance Pirelli tires that came on the car. They look great, but provide no options for winter tires.
After a long search I finally found myself a set of 22" wheels and tires for my winter setup on my GLS 580! The wheels are AMG replicas.....I went with a 22" x 10" with a 38mm offset all around. I decided on a square setup to increase my options for tires, and I went with the CONTINENTAL VIKINGCONTACT 7 XL in 285/45R-22 (front and rear). The wheels and tires fit very well and generally look good....though not as good as my 23" setup, but for the winter they are fine.
The new front wheels/tires look good, and the 38mm offset actually pushes the wheels/tires out slightly more than the stock 23" wheels/tires. It's a nice flush look in the front. The new rears are a bit tucked in and I would like to push them out slightly with 15mm spacers, but I can't seem to find any spacers for the GLS.
Do you guys know where I can get a set of spacers for the GLS? Nobody seems to make any that are specific to the X167 GLS. Can I use any 5x112 bolt pattern 67mm hub centric spacers? I know I will need longer 15mm x 1.25mm thread bolts with the spacers....likely something around 43-45mm in length.
Please let me know....and sorry for the bad photo. It's been snowing here in CT and the roads are still wet. I just had the new 22" wheels mounted today and didn't have time to get the car washed or take a proper photo.

Polar, can you tell me where you got your replica wheels? I am debating a few options with 22x9” wheels.
I would prefer to run a square setup so I can rotate wheels every season.
22x9 wheel with +38 offset if used as a square setup will tuck 23mm in the back and 6mm in the front while giving me extra clearance medically towards the suspension. I could use 20mm spacers in the rear to push the wheels out more which is an extra $100 and added pain in the butt.
22x9 wheel with +27 offset will tuck 12mm in the rear and poke 5mm in the front.
22x10.5 wheel with +40 offset will poke 11mm more in front and have 1-2mm LESS clearance medially towards suspension. The rears will tuck 6mm.
Currently leaning towards the 22x9 +38 and getting rear spacers. I am not sure how any poke in the front will affect clearance of the front fenders.
Thanks,
X

I bought my 22” x 10” wheels from here:http://www.replacementcarwheels.com/
Ask for Sean and tell him that Tom from Greenwich, CT referred you. He’s very helpful and an honest seller.
I find the 22” x 10” wheels to be a very good fitment. No clearance issues at all with the brakes on the 580. The front wheels sit nice and flush with the body. I think they push out slightly more than the stock 23” setup. The rears are tucked in a bit and I think a 15mm spacer would make them look great.
Good luck and let me know if I can be of any help.

I bought the TPMS from them and the tires from Tire Rack. Took everything to my local shop to have them mounted, balanced and put onto the car. Shipping the wheels and tires already mounted was prohibitively expensive according to what Sean said, so I purchased the tires separately.

Thanks for the link for the spacers. I actually came across that site as well. Unfortunately they don’t provide the full detailed specs of the spacers and bolts. I’m not 100% certain that the spacers will have 15mm holes (vs the standard MB 14mm) and I’m not certain that the wheel bolts will be 15x1.25mm. They also don’t specify the length of the bolts. They need to be at least 43mm.
It’s impossible to find 15x1.25mm x 43mm bolts!
If you are able to confirm the specs of the spacers, please let me know.
Thanks!

I went with 15mm spacers in the rear only. They are the perfect size and actually make the car look like it has a staggered fitment.

Winter Set Up - 2022 GLS63
New member here and I have read the posts on winter set up for the GLS. I am trying to get mine dialed in and wanted to see if I could get some help and perspective on my specific model and set up.
I am thinking about the Asanti Black Label ABL-37 22 X 9 with a +38mm offset on all four corners along with…
4X Yokohama Ice Guards H075 - 285/45R22 114T XL
Not overly concerned about appearance in upper Wisconsin/Michigan winters so if there is a little tuck in or show on the quarter panels, I can live with it! Driveablity and safety are the priority.
Would greatly appreciate thoughts! Thanks in advance!
