Prepaid Service plan - 2024
Hello all,
our 2024 is at around 9k miles old and the first service beckons. We did not buy a prepaid service plan because I read somewhere that it makes sense to do so after the first service A. That may be old information...
Where is the best place to buy the prepaid servicing in 2024? Is my strategy still a valid one or should I have bought it at delivery?
Thanks for your input!

I bought mine along with the extended warranty from Jeff Jackson at MB of Louisville. He was very helpful explaining how it all worked and gave me options with pricing. I wasn't aware there were differences when I first started down this path, but my local dealer was surprised that my prepaid service contract covered everything (including wipers) even though they initially tried to tell me it only included some service items. Once I explained that was not my understanding and how I read my contract. When they went back to check they agreed and told me they rarely see this. I am not certain if that is true or them just trying to cover themselves.

Yes, I think it is better to buy the prepaid maintenance after the first service if you are buying a 3 service plan (I believe you can buy 4 when the vehicle is new -- you may still be able to).
The reason being is the B service is more expensive than the A so getting more of those covered is the goal.

In the end, you have to ask your SA what your dealer charges for A and B, and what is included in both A and B. Add those numbers up (ABA, BAB, ABAB) and then compare the cost vs the prepaid package which will cover all required maintenance as mentioned here:

It didn't make sense for my vehicle and the nearby dealers' prices of A and B, wipers, and brake flush.

It's simple math, once you know the current charges where you get service.
Also consider the possibility of fixing your costs, if you think prices might increase.

2 services $2020
3 services $2820
4 services $3920
If you purchase the ppm after the first service:
2 services $2020
3 services $3000
I will find out next week what my local place want to charge for three services and proceed accordingly...
Thanks for the suggestion!

It's just free money to them if you just walk in and want to buy something from one of their profit centers.
AKA a "lay down" in the car biz.

Prepaid Service plan - GLS450
All, my 2020 GLS450's 3 year pre-paid maintenance has ended last year. Now I have 43K miles on it and it shows - 'Service B1 overdue by 5K miles'.
1) Is it advisable to get additional 2 year maintenance plan (or) just pay for Service B ?
2) If I opt for Service B alone, what's the ideal price I should ask the dealer for ?
Thanks for your input!

I’m sorry, but to know what these “A” and “B” services really are, is to see just how ridiculously expensive the stealership makes them out to be. But I understand wanting to have your Mercedes serviced by the dealer exclusively, I get it. But it is far more expensive than it really needs to be to maintain a vehicle. I have never, nor will I ever, buy a prepaid service plan from anyone, especially when they only really last for the simple oil/filter phase and expire when you get into the transmission/diff/plugs phase. But to each their own!
