I have a 2021 GLS 580 that I just got as a CPO.
The maps are old and considering buying MB connect for $150 for the year to update maps and checkout other features.
If I don't renew the MB connect, do I lose my map updates ?
If I cancel my MB connect after a couple of months if I paid for the year, do I lose my map updates ?

Yes, you'll lose the ability to update the maps.

I don't think you can cancel after you've paid.

In my case, the feature gets me an additional auto insurance discount. The Find My Car feature qualifies.

Yes, I understand I will lose the ability to update maps, but do I lose the already updated maps that I got after I paid ... If I don't renew or cancel.

No that's not true. You can cancel for on a pro-rata basis. Also within first 30 days there is a full refund. I have already canceled by S-class subscription for the service after 6 months from buying a 3 year plan, and got a refund for the remaining 2.5 years portion.

I believe that was true for the 3 year plan, but I don't think the new annual plan is refundable unless you sell your car. Maybe you can still cancel within 30 days, though.
Maybe someone with more knowledge about current plans can clarify.

Pulling info from my database again, valid for monthly as as well as annual. Two different docs and screenshots attached. Pro-rate refunds are also possible but left for customer service team (owner must request that via phone. Agent will honor the request for accounts with good history).

Generally depends on where you live. Here in California we can cancel any prepaid service and the provider has to issue a refund for the unrendered portion of the service by law. It's different in places that are consumer unfriendly.

@S_W222 Thanks for that.
I also see from my account that it's now possible to do a monthly Mercedes Me purchase for $15/mo, or $150/yr.

Your refund policy seems to be from another country. Here's a screenshot of the US policy, that only allows refund during the first 30 days.

Monthly is no longer available. It's only there for those who were grandfathered in with an existing monthly subscription. New subscriptions are yearly only.

That's true. My S-class was born with these, so technically, the policy shared (is still) valid but only for those who can secure it. New contracts are year-long not month-long now.

You could ask @EleBest to see if he is able to do a one-time upgrade and then do other coding options like ILS+.

Keep in mind that with all these coders you need to invest in hardware first. You need a separate laptop and the cable to connect the car. Some require the full C4, others seem to be willing to use cheaper alternatives, but the required hardware alone will set you back more than $150. The good news is once you have the hardware you are set for future updates and coding.

That's a good point. A windows laptop is also required.

Interesting.
I've never bought monthly, but on my '21 the first three years were included with the car. I don't remember an option to buy monthly when I renewed all last March after year three.
And now I see the monthly pay option when I was looking into all this. (Website not mobile.)

There was a lot of angst about a forced bundle instead of a la carte. Maybe this monthly pay is MB's compromise.
Kind of hard to keep track of

Yes, I had the free 3 years as well. Then when it came up for renewal, they had the a-la-carte plan, so first year I renewed everything but remote start and it was around $230. Remote start would have been another $30 dollar. Then the second year they went to the $150 all inclusive package, which saved me quite a bit of money. The monthly option was there, but I decided to go for the annual and save $30. Recently somebody inquired about the monthly option and Mercedes me support responded that the monthly plan has been discontinued.

Yes you won't lose the updated maps but you just don't get anymore updates after cancelling until resubscribe again.

You may know this, but in case you don't.....the over the air updates are only for your area. In my case, since I am in TN I only get TN, KY, and Ohio, when most of my travel is south or northeast. To get a complete map, or whatever other areas you want you can download those areas online to a thumb drive and then update the vehicle.
