1994 Sl500 Vs 2005 S55
i was comming home the otherweekend on the 73 north and there was this s55 driveing along. i pulled nexto him and he slowly starerts to accelerate from 70-85 and then punches it. so as do I. i seemed to pull away from him untill 125 then we both quit. i was astonished at the fact that i was keeping up with an S55. i know that the 0-60 is verry fast (for the size) but i thougt that it would eat me on the FRW with those 493 or so HPs. but it did not. is my race a real win? or did he not kick it down???

Probably more like a re-badged S430...

His encounter sadly had to of been with A) re-badged S430 or B) the guy wasn't even racing him, didn't even know he was there.

the guy was going and it was a real 55 from what i saw. (quad ehghaust and bodykit and the kompresser stuff on the side.) from the 0-60 the S55 only beats me by lik3 .3ish seconds. but whats the 0-100? or the 60 -100. I run 0-100 in the higher 13s.

Is your 94' SL500 modded? are you trying to say your 0-60 is 4.8-4.9?

Also an AMG bodykit and some badges+ chrome tipps don't mean it's the real deal necessarily, and from the outcome of what you might have mistaken for a race would have left you in the DUST! by 20+ car lenghts if it was the real deal 03- up S55, DREAM ON if your car is stock! you sound rediculous.

With your mods you might pick up .3 tenths of a second I say might!
Where your engine is lacking compared to the S500 is YOUR inferior Torque curve, your torque doesn't come on until 3900 rpm while the 2000-up S500 hits it at a mere 2700 rpm's. It obviously shows the difference this torque can make in 0-60 comparisons, from the REAL performance qoutes I gathered.
Anytime you want to run against my S500 I'll be happy to accomadate you and since you think your performance mods have thrown you into the 5.8-5.9 range you shouldn't have a problem w/mine Powewrchiped, and cat-back AMG quadtipped exhaust w/stock intake and filters

How about I race both of you?? . I'll let you get a 2.5 second jump on me? LoL,j/p.
How much rwhp does the AMG exhaust add to the 500? Also remeber to bring a video camera, this should be a good one.

It's true about how Mercedes does over rate their 0-60 times. For example the CL65...rated 4.2 by MB. Motor Trend tested the car and got 3.8. soooo....ha. Don't know where I'm going with this.

How much rwhp does the AMG exhaust add to the 500? Also remeber to bring a video camera, this should be a good one.

or the most reliable source you have been quoting MERCEDES DEALERSHIP BROCHURE????? the curb weight is BS FROM MOTOR DORKS AND SO IS EVERYTHING ELSE YOU PUT UP! the rpm range please guy do some more home work before you start spewing the lowest performance data you could find on the internet....And lastly lets just solve this the way I said I'll meet you somewhere in between your place and mine ok? and yes the AMG exhaust does give more than 2-3 hp. Stock S500 exhaust pipes are only 2" -2 1/2" wide where the AMG have much bigger diameter 3 1/2" pipes and much more free flowing mufflers if you doubt it lets find out and quit this could've would've ****!
