Not intimidating. Vettes have always been straight line cars, an AMG might lose to one on the strip, but that has no bearing on the cars as a whole. Corvettes are like mustangs, they're a dime a dozen and no one on the road knows which are something special and which arent. Their interiors resemble those of a McDonalds playground. They have leaf spring rear suspensions for goodness sake, handling DISASTER.

A stock C5 vette will lose to a stock W211 E55, no question. Vettes are cheap & easy to mod compared to our AMG's. I'm a former C5 owner and loved the car, but like everyone has said here, at the end of the day it's just another one of the eleventy-billion C5's/C6's on the road.

Let's wait a year and see how well the carbon fiber body panels and the carbon fiber & balsa wood floor pans are holding up before we annoit this thing king of the hill.If its like any other GM product, my bet is the vette owners will have bottles of Gorilla Glue in their gloveboxes to keep these things together.

I would hate for that guy (O-ACE) to meet up with DerekFSU or Ted Baldwin's E55s on the street.....or the SL65s of Schiznick, Treynor, or piko6.......he may well be the one who was crying afterward.

Those stories are complete BS-- a stock E55 AMG '03 will walk a stock C5 Vette day in and day out-- as proven by their 12.6, 12.8 and 13.0 timeslips I've seen over the years.

yea he cant be stock cuse an M3 will be dead even with a stock C5 vet and depending on the launch the M3 will jump a Car length at start and keep it. and we all know that a E55 owns an M3.

A dime a dozen, yes, but still, they're absolutely perfect if you have some pocket change and you want a powerful car that you can abuse on the track. A used C5 can be found for mid $20k nowadays. At 305 rwhp, that is awesome. Throw $5k into mods and you've got a 360+ rwhp vette.

Vettes are decent because they are cheap.........but that also means a dime a dozen.
At the track, the only vettes that have given the SL55 a hard time are the heavily modded Z06's on slicks. Other than that I have eaten them up on road courses.

And please let's not debate again over how its still just a Chevy and a Mercedes has pulsating seats and all the luxuries. It's been discussed before. Different cars, different prices for different people with different appetites.

I really want to remind you that the topic was that the vette is faster than merc. So we dont need buts here.... THe fact is a fact And it doesnt matter who is it veetter at the end of the day or its Chevy, the point is it is faster. That is what im talking about here. I am a crazy fan of Mercedes and it is very sad for me to belive that But all i know is that s65 amg will own c6 vette. When you go top to top from both companies So please don't make excuses
