Dont get me wrong. If all you can afford, is 65K, the Vette is a GREAT car. Perfect car for someone just starting out. 20-21 years old, thats the car to get.

Allan,
I don't know if it's fair to say the Z06 is a peice of ****. Maybe it's less desireable to someone that can afford $200k-$300K+ cars, but it's not a POS.
I think the Z06 is one of, if not the best sports car values out there.
BTW, How many 20-21 year olds are buying $65K cars? Most of the U.S. can't afford $60k cars nevermind 20 year olds; unless of course the 20 year old is your son.

Wow I just read through this entire post. Allanlambo is a TROLL, with a sick collection of cars no doubt. His murcie is one of my favorites. But when it comes to understanding what the z06 is capable of, he is a total idiot. The z06 is a mid to low 11 second car and WILL eat gallardo's, 360's, 430's, just about any exotic for lunch. Obviously Z06 owners aren't kidding themselves, the car has it's faults. Making the car rare is clearly going to be more difficult when you offer it for less than half of what most of the Z06's competition cost. The interior materials of the z06 might be not as up to par as ferrari or lambo, but costs hafta be cut somewhere. It offers a perfect track car that with a little money for things like track brake pads and more supportive seats will be a world class track competitor. It already is the clear street champion. You guys ever get more than 15 mpg in your murcie's?
And I love how some people are saying gallardo will beat it around a track. I know nurburgring isn't everything, but Z06 has a 7:43 and the gallardo has a 7:52!!!!!!! hahaha pathetic

Comparing your silly Nurburgring time, shows truly what a fool you are. You are comparing the Z06's time, in which Chevy sent a team to the Ring for 2 weeks, including their own profesional race driver, testing, tuning and making suspension changes on the car to get that time. While the Gallardos time, was accomplished by a magazine editor, Horst Van Saurma, after a day of testing various cars.

Just the fact that you even mention gas mileage is laughable. Im sorry, but I could careless if I got 2mpg in my Lambo. When you buy a car like that, mpg, and or gas prices dont matter.

Allanlambo, you're right, gas mileage was a stupid point for me to bring up, when you buy a performance car gas mileage shouldn't be an issue. However, it is a plus.
You say the Z06 being faster than your gallardo isn't a big deal? I'd disagree, I think it is quite an accomplishment that chevy can offer a package that is faster than a gallardo in a straightline and around the track.
I don't know that much about reliability for either car. However, I can say that lambos, ferrari's or high performance chevys probably spend a similar amount of time in the shop. Sometimes you end up with a lemon. Certainly not all Z06's needed their engines replaced. If anything it is ferraris and lambos that have the reputation of being in the shop all the time.
I love the gallardo and think its a fantastic vehicle. I'd much rather be in a gallardo than a Z06. However, the only advantage you recieve in a gallardo is the pure design and art form of the car as well as the prestige the brand gives you. In terms of performance and convenience the Z06 is most definitely superior than the gallardo.
I'm not 100% on this but I'm fairly certain that Horst von Saurma did drive the Z06 on nordschliefe and he got a time of 7:49. I've been trying to find the article, bit I can't find it online. I'll keep looking and post it up if I find it.

You bet! I could not find the actual page w/total elapsed time on it, still searching. This page cites it, but can't find article:
http://www.fastestlaps.com/track2.html
Actually a pretty cool site....allan will be happy to know that "a" Lambo scored a faster lap time than the Z06; however, it was the Lamborghini Murcielago LP640, coming in at 7:47.
But hell, you want bragging rights for lap times? von Saurma piloted the Koenigsegg CCR to a 7:34 !!!
They also claim that a Mercedes SLR McLaren ran a 7:40, driven by Klaus Ludwig.
I wouldn't have thought that thing would hit it that well...
And of course, there are multiple tests of Porsche GT2s and GT3s in the sub-7:50 range....fantastic track cars, those.

Im pretty sure i would murder every mother ****er who ever made a comment about my wife, 30 years old or 60 years old.
it takes a pretty pathetic ****ing ***** to bring a mans wife into a conversation about cars.
I bet everyone feels REAL safe sitting infront of there computer monitor.
Next time one of you guys sees Allanlambo in person with his wife, make sure to back up your words on the internet and say the same things to his face..

allanlambo doth speweth:
...and then proceeds to quote a magazine:
![crazy](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/crazy.gif)
Might I remind you that it was you who claimed (falsely) that Sport Auto hadn't tested the Z06 at Nurburgring?
Well, they did. I corrected your false claim.
And of course, as is typical for you when you're shown to be wrong, you start in with the insults. "Magazine warrior"....lol. Yes, that's it: anyone (except you, of course) who posts magazine tests of lap times done by drivers like von Saurma, upon whose *** you are not one pimple, is a "magazine warrior".
Just as someone who posts the score for a superbowl game from Sports Illustrated would be a "sports magazine warrior", I guess.
Or someone who reports the world record holder in the 100m dash is a "track and field magazine warrior", lol.
Now, here's the thing: it was YOU who first mentioned von Saurma, was it not? Yes, it was:
So please, spare us the insult-fest. You posted incorrect info, got called on it, and posting 50,000 other mag articles (magazine warrior!!!) won't change that. The data from von Saurma is still there, and it shows that the same driver, who FYI is not only a "magazine editor" but an accomplished driver who set a record for a production car on the Nurburgring, got better times, on two tracks, short and long, in the $65,000 Z06 than he got in a Gallardo costing around 3X that amount.
And in typical hypocritical fashion, after lambasting someone a few posts ago for comparing the 7'40" 'ring time for the Z06 done by Jan Magnussen to the time done by von Saurma in the Gallardo, because the times hadn't been done by the same driver, then what do you turn right around and do? Why, post a link to the times recorded at an Italian track by...drumroll please...it's coming...a bunch of different drivers!
![crazy](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/crazy.gif)
I eagerly await your typical ad hominem response, which will surely fall into the "I'm so rich, you drive a CLK55", or "you're a magazine racer", etc. etc. etc....none of which, of course, will dispell the nasty little facts that you don't want to hear.
...and then proceeds to quote a magazine:
